Having said that, let me say this. When it comes to check processing, banks almost NEVER make mistakes. It is a RARE situation, and I mean VERY VERY VERY RARE, when a check bounces and it was the fault of the bank. It almost NEVER EVER EVER EVER happens. 9.9 times out of 10, it is the fault of the account holder. It's always fun to blame it on the bank, however, it is almost NEVER EVER EVER the banks fault.
Blaming it on the bank, when it happens more than once, is pathetic.

Actually our bank messed up 3 times in the past 6 months. First time they put my daughters deposit in her savings account when she told them it had to go in her checking account to pay her car insurance. The check bounced...they covered her fees and wrote a letter to her insurance company saying it was their fault.
Second time the bank put through 4 checks that were not even ours out of our savings. When I contacted them they assured me that I probably just "forgot" I wrote the checks...I insisted the investigate because I don't even have checks for that account. Ended up that the bank encoded counter checks on the spot for a person that ran out.....the person put in the wrong account number and their checks started going through our account and they didn't even notice...again an apology.
Third time they once again put my daughters deposit in her savings instead of her checking and once again her car insurance payment bounced...once again they covered all fees and contacted the insurance company and said it was their fault.
Banking mistakes do happen from time to time.
