Thousands in U.S. Protest Iraq Occupation

LOS ANGELES Sept. 28 ? Thousands took to the streets of Hollywood on Sunday to protest the occupation of Iraq in one of several weekend demonstrations around the world criticizing the Bush administration.
An estimated 3,000 people took part in the peaceful march and rally, some chanting, "George Bush, Uncle Sam, Iraq will be your Vietnam," while walking down Sunset Boulevard.

Hmm...could this be the beginning of the end?

At the rally, Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich said U.S. troops should be pulled out of Iraq and replaced by international forces.

"We need to get the U.N. in and the U.S. out," Kucinich said. "There can be a way to extricate this nation from the quicksand of Iraq."
Are these people serious?

We need more troops in Iraq.

They're idiots. If the US pulled out right now, they'd be the first people to bitch and moan about the US not giving any support to the Iraqis. Fucking bleeding hearts swapping from one "cause" to the next.

Protesting U.S. attacks on Iraq before the war, during the war, and after the war, is hardly swapping causes.

Even though I don't agree with a lot of protesters, at least they care enough about the future of the country to be active, unlike most Americans who would rather watch television.

I was heading to the Kodak theatre with my gf on sunday and the road was blocked by this rally. There was probably 3,000 people throughout the day. Because the crowd I saw was more like in the hundreds. And half of those people where just there to get petitions signed and vote for me campaigns.

That picture makes it look bigger than it really was. Another example of the media trying to make things what they weren't.

Cool thing is the people who stay home on message boards dont gain the attention of the people who actually go outside and do something about it.

I would have liked to go and take pictures myself. To see and hear is to live. To scream is to live even more. Id rather scream than sit home and talk about it.

I like the fact things like this occur minutes from my pad. UNlike some people on this board who sit thousands of miles fro anything, there is a world out there and it should not revolve around war.

America needs change.

At least they have the courage and THE RIGHT to go out and march for what they feel.

That sir is the beauty of our country, and its time we take it back from the war mongers and alcoholics.

Why do people always relate vocalness with caring act like they're proportional to one another? So the more louder and active a person is, the more he/she cares about the future of the United States? So i guess the ELF really care. I bet if you approach any of those people protesting the occupation and ask them one simple question: "What is your solution to the problem then?" I guarantee that a lot of them wouldn't even have a clue and just answer: "I don't know, I just think they shouldn't occupy IRAQ"

You seem unaware of Iraqi history before sanctions were imposed.

Last time the US left the Iraq
Thousands were killed by Saddam

Wasn't that the whole thing in the beginning of this war that the Iraqi's are still pissed because the the military left them out to dry in the first war

'My wife and I were invited over to a neighbor's home 12 days ago where General Clark told those gathered that certain people, acting on behalf of the Bush administration, called him immediately after the attacks on September 11th and asked him to go on TV to tell the country that Saddam Hussein was "involved" in the attacks. He asked them for proof, but they couldn't provide any. He refused their request.'
