Weird XP problem... - GoFuckYourself.com

Ok I got this fuckin weird bug on my computer (I run winxp pro). Here's the thing: Everything was running smooth, I wasn't doing anything special, when suddently, the computer froze (shit happens!)... then my taskbar and all the icons on my desktop were gone...So I restarted the computer and things were slow as shit, and the icons and taskbar still weren't there...(every program that loads at startup didn't load...ICQ, MSN etc...). I still see the wall paper, but that's it! No icons, no task bar, doesn't do anything when I rightclick on the desktop.

Since everything was so damn slow, I did a ctrl+alt+delete to bring the taskmanager and I saw that this process: explorer.exe was taking 98% of CPU usage...so I ended the process...the lag stopped, but there's still no icon or anything...I can use all my programs if I start'em with the Run command (or by pressing new task in the taskmanager), but NO FUCKING DESKTOP, ICONS OR TASKBAR! WTF??? Could this be a virus?? I'm pretty sure the problem is with explorer.exe process...but what could it be, anyone could clue me in?

ya, scan for virus and spyware shit. Remove any programs that don't need to be starting from msconfig also

just start it up in safemode ( F8) and start again normal...did the trick for me

Ok I tried this one...everything was fine in safemode, but when I rebooted, still fucked up...altough I noticed the following...the icons and the taskbar apear but they are freezed....I have to bring the taskmanager and end the explorer.exe process (then, the desktop etc.. dissapear)...so there's no question about it, the problem is in explorer.exe
