The IPods arrive today and I need help..

used a few reward points for a couple of IPods for the boys. The next question coming is going to be "Where to download music files from?" (waiting for the feds to show up at my door)..

Any suggestions?

http://www.kazaalite.tk

Just disable uploads and they won't get you. The way they do it is they search for songs, download them off you and get your IP.

You can also do it the legal way, and make mp3s from cds you already own.

I bet my left testicle your boys know where to get music, unless you've locked them up in your basement.

That's what I'm starting them with. My Dell laptop came with Dell Jukebox. Really handy and easy interface for making MP3s from CDs.

Actually they don't get to do much surfing without mom nearby. Ya see.. Mom knows what bad things are out there on the net. ;)

Primarily I don't want to deal with having to delete adware off my laptop cause the boys have no idea what to look out for.

How many of their friends do you think visit mom's website on a regular basis?

Well I guess it depends how old they are. When I was in high school PersianKitty, SublimeDirectory, TheHun, WorldSex, ThumbZilla and the like were all common household words.

Find a good and reliable Usenet feed. I recommend Easynews.com. People post thousands of entire albums to the Usenet every day.

I give my kids the annual back to school "Tell your friends what dad does and wish you were dead" speech. Then I follow it up in January with the "Nothing's fucking changed" speech.

Works like a champ.

I used Napster until it closed. It was the best music sharing site ever known to mankind. I am now downloading the new David Bowie CD on WinMX 3.3. It is not nearly as fast as my beloved Napster, but it's not bad. I can find all the new artists and a lot of the older music. I use Audiograbber to copy my CD's on to my computer. FUCK RIAA!

AllofMp3.com has lots of great albums. You have to pay like $ 1 for each album .. and it's legal ... at least in russia
