This is all MY TIME. So i wasted HOURs before even opening photoshop. Its cool, we DESERVE to be ripped off. |
Fletch,
You know we always get paid over here at webinc.com :) It's all about good customer service. Try and take care of the clients as best as you can. 99.9% of the time all will be ok, and they will turn into a return customer :) |
I have no desire to bicker with a designer who feels its okay for another designer to get ripped off.
It would be like me pointing out all idiots who get their Paypal locked should have read the rules ;) :thumbsup |

In all the years I've been doing work on the web I've never been scammed nor do I scam. I've had a few bs tricks tried to be pulled but the perps ended up in the shit anyhow.
Each client and job is different. Sometimes things happen like someone gets sick or mechanical failures, software failures, storms etc. You have patience and keep your word the best you can. Always give the client that extra goodie like an extra t-shirt design and if they don't know how to market in an area you can offer that as well. In all these years I've only had one bs routine pulled and it was from a dude who got my info from this very board. He tried an old time trick and is sorry for it. We caught him in mid bs and that's that. I don't demand loot up front. Clients offer it. Don't argue with the client. They'll know what they want when they see it. Some are more literate than others and you have to know your ground and coach them along. You do sketches. If they don't like them, say goodbye. If they offer their viewpoint evaluate it and if it's not graphically logical explain it best you can. If they don't get it, excuse yourself and roll on. Many times I work in trade. That's VERY important. Some guys have services, goods, advice and I'll do some work in swap. Sometimes I just find a site I like and offer to do some toons just cause the site is cool! I remember once I ran across Horny Hank's website and he has a superhero logo. I got in contact with him and offered to do some toons for a link exchange. The stuff looked great, he ran it for awhile but we lost contact and I figure it's cause he's very busy but he kept his word. That's when things are fun. Like with traffic I do toons/projects in exchange. You'ld be suprised the good stuff you can break off. So when you get the conflicts noted in this thread it's disturbing. If you get clients that are patient and fun, that makes work fun. If you get services that are fun that makes work fun. Goes both ways. Don't bang your head against the wall. You either work well together or just split. __________________ |

Didn?t even want to waste my breath or bump this thread anymore
then it already is, but just to let everyone know how this pathetic shit stain got very close to fucking with me and my company, but very successful he was. Let me just give you a heads up on how he tried to sob about being ripped by many companies and was very uncomfortable with giving our company 50% up front for the design work both parties agreed on. So i let him slide with a 20% deposit on the work he requested. That was a simple search engine redesign job that we gave him the best deal to meet his budget. Our policy is simple; we give you up to 3 mock ups with completely new approaches and the customer is free to choose one of them with full access to any detailed modifications to one of the mock ups. For a hot minute i was under the impression both parties where satisfied with this agreement and we went forward with the design, one of our guys put together an amazing front end layout and instead of giving us any comments/criticism or anything of that sort, he simply said send me back my money?! Now let?s see, my sales/marketing director Oleg/OKNY spent over 4 hours discussing the many solutions we can provide for him, along with an unlimited amount of consulting and resource direction for his new venture to get him going as a friendly addition. My only question is this: WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU GO TO A DESIGN COMPANY IF NOTHING IN THEIR PORTFOLIO CAUGHT YOUR EYE? For all future happenings & design service companies. Be strict with your rules, and if you come across a shit stain like this, then do as I did, tell him to get on all four and lean over a bit more. Oh and i almost forgot, This one is for you brother Andrew: :321GFY |
I usually scam people too. Add me to the list.

We joined this message board today in defense to aligations made by user: bluecrawl. One of our clients had informed me of our company being bashed on this board, so here I am.
I'll make it short... Here's the first site layout for bluecrawl: http://adultwebexperts.com/bluecrawl/old/ The redesign he wanted much simpler and based on white: http://adultwebexperts.com/bluecrawl/ The girl in the logo, which is located on both layouts, was hand drawn by my illustrator. after getting bad remarks on both layouts we knew this was a human being that will never be satisfied, even if we gave him the world. we tried working with him on improving the existing layouts, but he was set to see a brand new layout everytime. For all we knew he was collecting all these graphical interfaces for 1 low price, something we found not amusing. Although his instructions ("blue, eye catching, simple to the point, tidy, easy navigation") where met on both interfaces we created, he still seemed unsatisfied :( we drop clients like this quick. Sure the deposit is kept, designers time is money. We don't work for free buddy :) Our contract even states "deposit non-refundable". |
well as i suspected both excellent designs

Dude, get an attorney and straighten it out. I'm sure you had his real name and real contact data when you agreed to work on his project. |
greg b - the headache of going to court for such a small project is meaningless. plus we have many clients to handle, this one was dropped like a dead fly. :1orglaugh

Hey there... Gimme a shout at webmaster(at)velocityhosting.com and I'll give you some options regarding paying without a credit card... I am even up for bardering content and design work for hosting... Thanks, Cyberpod |
Perhaps a couple of the design firms should get together here and build a black list :) We haven't had any problems quite as severe as this though. Generally asking for 50% up front and then delivering as promised has worked out well.
|
Cyberpod, if you need a virtual host shoot me an ICQ maybe i can
get you some free hosting in exchange for content. If you need a dedicated box i can get you a sick deal, and top notch support. Lets all forget this shit stain ever exhisted, no need to stress over some pathetic low life like him. Plenty of other good honest people out there. |

thread with people to avoid, anything from design to development. |
This is what I hate about designing...you think we should give you a refund if you dont like the design, that is no way to operate a business...if I do work I'm getting paid....bottom line.

Bitchmedia.com Statement:
I read this thread, and i think itīs quite obvious, what is going on here. We have heard both sites of the story, to make the picture complete, I just wanted to throw a screenshot of your work into discussion here, so you can see, what he is talking about. Design by Bitchmedia As far as I have seen, the quality of all layouts was good - maybe he should spent more time on a good briefing, defining, what exactly he is serching for, than posting lots of parallel threads on different boards. Cheers, CyberSan |

Like i said, there is no reason for the customer to go and order design work from your company if something in your portfolio didnt get his/hers attention. If you didnt like your first, second or even third approach then you are totally liable for that deposit, and the offer to work with any of the three mock ups always remains on the table. Who here thinks i am right and who thinks i am wrong? |
Everyone that wants this fuck face off the boards vote here:

When Blouecrawl came to me to do this design. He showed me your design and told me you ripped him off. Said you did that design and afterwards he never heard from you and you wasted weeks of his time. He said you and your company ripped him off. I love hearing the truth of the matter. This guy is complete fucking scum and should NOT be allowed to do business here. How many designers did he fuck over this one site? 20? Thats a lot of money if you add it all up. As far as am concerned he is a criminal. NO different than a guy who steals a car. Whats worst some ass who steals a car thats worth 3k or some white collar criminal who steals 15k from a bunch of designers? Fuck this crook. |

What about the other companies? You don't appologize to them? Maybe you could make an equal amount of threads appologizing to them as you did bashing them.
Anyway now that you're on FletchXXX's shitlist I guess its time for a name change.... I wonder if lil2picky4u is available :glugglug |
