How long does the process last? Anyone know. Should I apply now, if I plan to move in 2 years? What are the requirements.

The site http://www.insservice.org/ is no good on giving info.

I really don't feel like joining the greencard lottery, are there other legit ways to move in and 'start' a business?

Luckily for you, your country is under the visa waiver program...you can always just show up for six months and while you're here, go for your green card...Then all you have to do is take a trip to canada every six months and then return for another six....

It will take awhile to get a green card but since you're from finland, it won't be as hard as folks from other countries

Even if you had an immediate family member that was a U.S. citizen, it would take a long time! The easiest way is to marry an american and that wasn't so easy. I married a Canadian and he immigrated here.

Best thing to do is read through the WHOLE INS site to see what you "may" qualify for and how long it will take. Either way start the process now.

See if applying for the greencard lottery will hurt your chances on immigrating any other way and if not, apply for it!

And never tell them you are in the adult biz lol

Hey, If you have any kind of arrest in your background, you can basically forget it. They are as they say " Cleaning up the US " which translates to violating a lot of peoples civil rights. They are also not allowing a lot of people into the country for really small shit.

If you do actually make it, dont forget that in this country double jeopardy is ok as long as it is done under that patriot act. And that act deals a lot with people that have green cards.

I got booted out of the country because my lawyers fucked up with my H1-B #¤%&/.
In the beginning I used the visa waiver thing. If you want the 6 month visa, you need to call the embassy.
When I applied for my second 6 mo visa they grilled me for 20 minutes or so.
"What buses did you use when you went from that city to that city?"
"What rental company did you use when you went to Oregon?"
"What hotel did you stay at?"

Lots of fucked up questions

When they were applying for my visa I studied up on all other visa, just in case.

Get married is a pretty safe bet, if you have known the girl for a while.

E-2 investor visa if you have a lot of money.
J-1 is an exchange student/worker visa, but I think it's limited to 1.5 years. http://www.amscan.org/ they can apply for you.
H2-B seasonal worker....in case you want to work with them Mexicans picking Oranges

If you know someone that owns a magazine/newspaper or something like that. They can "hire" you and apply for an I-visa, it's for reporters. That way you can stay in the country for up to 5 years at a time.
A friend of mine lives in New York, and it works like a charm for her.

I cant believe you want to move to the fucking U.S. I cant see absolutely no advantage in that country. Maybe if you were borne there but if I wanted to leave my own country I would choose something more attractive. Even the climate in the U.S. sucks, you may choose between very cold winters (in the north), hurricanes (on the Carribean) and earthquakes (in the west). And even most Americans have realized that their president is the biggest asshole in history.

I want less than 60% taxing percetage.
I want people who understand english.
I want relatively cheap rent (under 1000$ for a nice pad)
I want relatively cheap prices on everything

Please share if you know a better solution.

Panama. I have been there and I must say it's one of the best countries for expatriates. It's alsways warm (some rainfall though), very cheap (we had a simple dinner for two in the mountains for $3 ... for the 2 of us) and taxes for foreign revenues are non-existant.
If you plan to live outside Panama City you have to learn Spanish though. Rents in Panama City are much higher than in the rest of the country and you may not swim at the beach due to the water pollution.
