rackshack dedicated servers to pull mega banners?

if you had to load 3-4-5 mil banners/month

would you

!. use rackshack server to load them.

2. go for 2 or 3 of the dual xenon packages ie 2X1200gis/data with each machine having 1 gig ram rather then the 1gig ram 10mbit deal

3.Any other sugestion.

Thanks for your time and help.
Cheers

4 million banners at 25K a piece you can easily serve off one server that doesnt even have to be dual Xeon. Hit me up on icq at 36837470 and I can give you a great quote on a managed server with no hassles.

Take care

That's a pretty light load depending on how you do it....

how are you planning on doing it? (software wise)

I mean are you just going to be serving static banners from this box (or boxes) or is there a servebanner.php or servebanner.cgi that will be on this box as well?

If there is software serving the banner, what is it? If its custom - what lang is it coded in?

Figure 25kbytes max per banner * 5 million banners

= ~116.42Gigabytes.

You'd be fine with the $99 Rackshack deal

Thanks for the help so far it is greatly apreciated.
I did not know that loading a banner could be done using a script that could somehow make its load lighter on the box.
Cheers

The script would increase the load on the server... serving static banners via apache would be the easiest on the servers resources. You'll probably also want to cache your banners in ram or something regardless of how you're serving them.

That's your upper expectations for both banner size & number served.

I would say go with the 10mbit deal if you really feel you are going to hit some big numbers like that because you are currently pushing big numbers.

If this is starting from zero banners served & you have high hopes & can't afford to burn money, then test (and grow) your project on the $99 box for awhile.

Dude, have you even bought advertising before? Sounds like you are jumping in the deep end without learning how to swim first.

I serve around that number of banner impressions (actually a lot more as only uniques are counted) now on a RS box that has lots of other stuff running on it no problems. Id recommend a box with 1Gb ram but other than that go for it.

If you can take care of your server, configure apache and etc go with rackshack, but if you need any help with setting up services and so forth you may want to go with a host that provides a bit more support. And at 10 megabits I can give you some nice deals, hit me up on icq 36837470 or if you just need some hints on a few good config options for your apache.

phpAdsNew is what you need. I use it to serve all the banners, text ads, html ads, full page ads etc, on all my adult sites. I have a seperate one for my non adult sites though. Wouldn't want to get those fuckers mixed up!! It's very stable, and can handle fuck loads of impressions, and you won't need to stick it in a separate, dog's bollocks box. If you are seriously into advertising then it is a must have!

If you would like a managed solution comparable to Rackshack's plan without a setup fee email [email protected]
