a little over a month ago my boss scheduled a meeting 3 days before they had the meeting. i couldnt make it and she said they were holding paychecks for whoever didnt attend. its been a little over a month and i still didnt get the paycheck. is there some way i can fuck over my boss for doing that? i know it has to be against the law but i just dont know what to do about it.

If I scheduled a meeting and one of my employees didn't show up that would be grounds for firing.

Now.. if you work at McDonalds and didn't show up to a meeting because you were working your other job at Hardees, now that's a different story.

i work for a promotion company that get people to sign up for credit cards. if you were a halfway decent manager you would schedule your meetings more than 3 days in advance.

As an employee your job is to do what your boss says, if you don't like it - leave.

are you a salaried or per hour employee?
If you are salaried - you have to show up.
If you are per hour - you have to be paid for the time of the meeting. period

Don't get me wrong.. I think it's shitty they are holding your paycheck, I would never do that.

But If I want to call a meeting at last minute, chances are I have a good reason.

They can't hold your paycheck, not legally. Call the Department of Labor or whatever it is you have where you live.

My guess would be that they are holding the checks for another meeting at which you will be fired.

no the meeting is over and i have worked serveral times since. this is just a part time job that i took because its at baseball games and i actually like the environment and its easy. it pays by the hour but not very well. it wasnt an important meeting and i had to work another job that night already. i actually care if i have my other job, so not showing up to the meeting was a no brainer.
