I won't be back in the US until after it starts, so I miss part of the season. At least I will be home before Angel starts again...

The current season is called "Enterprise" and is about the crew of a sort-of prototype Enterprise in the days of Starfleet before the Federation (90 years after First Contact).

The last time Spock was around was in a plotline of TNG, about an attempt to reunite the Romulans and Vulcans. It was in a later season of that show.

"Enterprise" is sold out. Not true to star trek form.

Sorry... that is not Star Trek.... It is a cheap immitation of a great show.

I am not saying that the new show is bad... in fact it would have been great for me if they just used another name...

There will never be another Captain James T. Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty.... Now that is Star Trek...

the original series was good but kind of inconsistent. There were some episodes that were so good and others that were real bad.

TNG is the best. Great character development. Some stinker episodes but not many.

DS9, Voyager I group together. Could never get into them, just dont like the way they are done.

Enterprise, watched one time and didnt do anythign for me.

DS9 was by far the best Series produced as far as story line goes.. But you can't beat TNG for Leading actors.. Brooks just fell a little short as far as his acting ability compared to Stewart. He wasn't a strong actor in the character that was cast for him..

Voyager was a complete fucking write off, except for Janeway, and the Doctor the whole cast needed to be shot out a torpedo tube in the 3rd episode.. The show had a wicked cool premise, but the horrible, HORRIBLE choice of actors in it. I mean sure TNG fucked up badly by keeping Mirina Sirtus on for most than 1 season, but at least the rest of the actors were talented enough to compensate for her huge ass and horrible, nails on chalkboard, accent that made you want to vomit everytime she spoke..

Now DS9, whereas the lead actor was not as strong as he should have been, didn't have any weak weak links in the chain.. I mean it didn't have any hardcore super insanely talented actors such as Patrick Stewart, but everyone was pretty good in DS9 and the storyline and plot were single handedly the best in television in history..

Enterprise is surprisingly good though..
I mean once you get over that intro it is an awesome show.. Scott Bacula is of exception talent, he is absolutely wonderful.. And I am surprised how easily I got over my prejudices of Southern American Accents so quickly.. I mean I don't like most things american, and that accent is 100% american baby.. but after a few episodes I was suprised at how that one prejudice vanished..

Enterprise is definitely a great show.. Great acting, and traditionally it is about the 3rd season when a ST show really starts to get good, and follow a linear plot line.. So pretty excited at the 3rd season here..

Long live Star TREK!!

oh and on a last note, to all of those who think that TNG is the best, and never got into any of the other ones.

I was like you once, 100% I was like you.. I thought DS9 was just the worst thing when I first started watching it..
But you Have to, and I stress this, you HAVE to do the following.

Either go out and buy the DVD box set, or download them all in order..
You have to watch the series from start to finish.. Don't miss a single episode. The thing with DS9 is that it slowly turns into one big episode.. Slowly at first and then eventually it gets to a point where basically one episode will start almost exactly where the previous one ended.. The reaason why it is so hard to get into, as it was for me, is because it has the most linear plot line of any series on TV.. Which obviously has its ups and downs. On the downside it will not appeal to anyone with a short attention span.. And by that I mean one that lasts for 4-5 years straight.. After season 4 or 5 if you miss 2-3 episodes in a row you will be totally in the dark about what is going on. But the upside is that it makes for the single best television event in history.. If you actually give DS9 a chance and watch it from Start to Finish(and you are a star trek fan, or at least have an open mind) there is no doubt that you will agree it is the best show to be aired on TV. I mean without a doubt.. It is the closest that TV has even come to a book in my mind.. and a damn good book at that.. The show just gets so dark, and so very definitely NOT happy and clean as is common on TV, and especially for star trek up to that point..
Ah, I could go on about DS9 all day long.. but all I will say is give it a chance, and you MUST watch it from start to finish to appreciate the masterpeice that it is

Man you are going to have to back that opinion up with something big here.. And by big, I mean bigger than her ass, which is pretty substantial. Something to overpower the fact that she can't act, and that she has this fucking accent that isn't thick, or very strong, but is so subtly annoying that you dont' even notice it until your head suddenly explodes from all the built up rage and frustration..
It is like the Chinese Water-Drop torture.. After 5 minutes you are laughing because you know this won't make you break, but after 5-10 episodes you are spilling everything you know just to make it stop

i dont think many here would share that same opinion. I think her character was good and fit in many story lines nicely.

As for a big ass, she had a pretty hot body. Id fuck her hard.

Have you formed a borg hive and created a collective consciencenous to know that everyone else things so highly of her?

I mean come on, that episode where she has to communicate with those telepathetic beings in her dreams to find out that the enterprise must release hydrogen and she is yelling
'WHERE ARE YOU??' but with the accent it is more like

'WHEA AAWWW UUUU???'

Ooohhh, I just want to claw out my eyes and ears thinking about that..

That and she can't act.. and her ass is fat, though after trying to take a screen shot of one of the vids I have of her for 10 minutes iwth no success you will just have to take my word on that..

And we are talking about in the TV shows, not the movies.. She may look and sound better in the movies, but that is besides the point..

Enterprise is probably the weakest Star Trek yet. Ratings have been abysmal. Let's hope they get the writers on track for season #3, or there might not be a #4 !

Tonight's episode of Enterprise was interesting especially concerning Tucker and T'Pol since they are turning up the heat between the two. The acting on this series has been superb and I like it.

Enterprise is on UPN at 7pm Central time so check your local tv listing at TV Guide

By the way, I got next week's TV Guide, which is the Fall Preview special. This is the worst one yet and I am not fond of the new layout...

I like all the incarnations of Star Trek. I have seen bits and pieces of Enterprise. I'll probably watch them all when it ends up on Fox 5 days a week like Next Generation used to be.

It was a good first episode, and set up lots of possible future conflict. I hope they keep it up. They re-worked the intro song (still sucks), softened up T-Pol and put her in colorful jumpers (no more grey).

T-Pol is the ship's sex toy, with her getting passed around between Tucker and Archer.

Alright! I can't stand it anymore!!!

From someone who was there when the first Star Trek aired.

There are now 5 'Star Trek' series.

Each one unique.

Star Trek TOS ( the original series )
is a groundbreaker to this day.

Star Trek The Next Generation introduced the 'bigger' Star Trek universe but it wasn't as romantic as the first series. I could go on with major kudos but there's a point I wanna make.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

Here's where the heat is on. This series is sooooo freakin' deep ( no pun intended ) that I had to stop and go back and watch it again. It ain't the 'pretty, mysterious, romantic' Star Trek universe but a brutal, tooth and nail tail of survival with a strong spiritual platform. It's about surviving on all levels and the balance of good and evil. It's more like a drama wrapped with a sci-fi coating. No happy endings in DS9 which made it more real. Had the best space battles ever. Especially the big blockade run with like a gillion star ships fighting.

Star Trek Voyager. Again, this series started off goofy kind of like trying to find something to do. But then it got nasty. Again a tooth and nail struggle for survival and a test of loyalty. One little ship versus the entire Borg collective. Not once but numerous times. There was an episode where a new space species was after the borg like Milfhunter after a new mom. This was a two-parter that was fucking awesome to say the least. Last 4 years worthy of buying on DVD.

Star Trek Enterprise. I like the cast but the package is stupid. They take us back before the Star Trek adventures to go over shit we've read and heard about already. We know what's going to happen so there's no suspense. Just character driven rehash. It answers some holes in the Star Trek universe but it's about as exciting as Seaquest. I don't know what the heck is going on ( and I should since I have pals who work on the show in all areas ) but it's a disappointment because they left us with a cliffhanger with DS9 and Voyager and TNG. No borg, no dominion just left us with lotsa questions about the 25th century.

Maybe they'll get it and do what I suggested.

Wow i have to agree with you guys that DS9 was by far the best, TNG got me hooked and at first i didn't like DS9, but after a few seasons things got interesting. Same thing for Voyager, especially Year of Hell part 1 and 2, was just brilliant.

I was a huge TNG fan but could never get into DS9. With Hawk from Spencer for hire, his sissy son, that prissy Brit doctor, the Labia Bajorans with their dangly earrings, and alien worm chick who couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. Quark & Odo were interesing characters. The series got better when they added Warf (O'Brien was already there) and went for darker story lines.

To be sure, 99% of everything Unc said. TNG had little humor, took it too seriously, preached their way out of every conflict with their self-rightousness, and got way into technobabble especially near the end. Voyager took that to the extreme; any situation could be solved by "reconfiguring the transwarp coil to create a temporal anomaly and shift phase bullshit bullshit bullshit..." Enterprise is a welcome return to "seat of the pants, this shit might blow up, punch them in the face diplomacy." DS9 had the best character development and best writing of any of them.

Although Troi is a babe. Judzia Dax was the hottest babe though. 7 of 9 did nothing for me, nothing but a "Borg Barbie".

Wondering how many Trek fans have caught on who "Enterprise"s T'Poi is. Remember the old white-haired matriarch who presides overed Spock's wedding in the original series? Leader of Vulcan? Yep, that's Enterprise's T'Poi in about 80 years.

Two more ideas still on the table (more on the way-back burner) are "Starfleet Academy" and some sorta Klingon show. I'd watch the second if they ever did it, but if "Trek 90201" ever makes it to TV, I won't watch it.

"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."
Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989"

Ummm...

Maybe he is right...

Trance, Drum and Bass. Dark room, glow sticks "Magic Pills"

He is describing the rave culture there.

Oh, that 2 part episode " Year Of Hell " from the Star Trek Voyager series was AWESOME.

Voyager had some kick ass 2 parters.

Here's where people hate me, but at first I couldn't wait for Neelix to get killed. But after a while, I came to realize the acting was so solid it made him more real than the other characters. He wasn't a coward but just a guy trying to survive in a nasty universe.

There was another 2 parter where they went back to present day to stop a computer geek who had stolen technology from the 30th century. Real cool!

I really liked the cast of voyager. Met them at conventions. You'ld be suprised how talented they really are. Many are musicians.
Jennifer Lein who played Kez was at one convention. Her voice is soooo beautiful that Garret Wang had to give her the floor. Garret Wang is one brilliant man. Super talented and plays a great heavy when given the chance.

As for DS9. Same with Quark. I couldn't wait for someone to bump him off but after he grew on me I realized he was the wiser of the group because he knew how dangerous space was and when the chips were down he came through. The Dominion and the Founders were eerie and the Cardassians were far more developed than I had imagined for a series. There was one episode that sent chills up our spines when Kira argued with a Cardassian leader who had been a concentration camp commander. She bitched at him about how could he justify mass murder and without batting an eye he just says in a no-bullshit voice:

" What you call genocide, I called a day's work. "

That's when I realized this wasn't any ordinary series and the writers and staff finally could get down and dirty. DS9 was a boxing match with the universe. Voyager was a streetfight. TNG was more of a debating team and Star Trek TOS was a barroom brawl.

Enterprise, so far will have to catch up.
