I am a devout liberal, and I have always thought that it would be O.K. by me, until this last week something that I saw changed my mind. Do not misunderstand this to think I am against gays, (this means you too squirt)

Here is what happended that changed my mind:

I was at my Gym, it is not a chain Gym. Rather it is a family oriented upperscale Gym. There are always a lot of ...welll hmmm lets call them the beautiful people...you know the people I am talking about, the ones that always look good, and have a little extra pocket change to throw around... trophy wifes, etc.. etc.. (I know you california people can relate)

I was doing my normal , Yoga then a little trip to the steam room, and a dip in the jacuzzi.

Thats where I had the vision of all the future turmiol that could, and would be caused if a blanket yes was the answear to same sex marriages.

I believe that so many new rules , and regulations would have to be enforced, that it would not be an easy task.

I was sitting in the steam room minding my own business, relaxing. There were two other gentlemen in the steam room also.
This is not uncommon, as the place is usually quite full. I looked up to see that one of the guys, was rubbing the other guys back.

I must admit, this had me quite dumfounded at what I was seeing take place in a very hetro establishment. (don't get me wrong, there are a lot of gay people there too) I just mean that this is a family establishment with a very large hetro presence to it.

I was thinking to myself, wow if a straight guy had a woman in the same position it would be outrage also. This is a public place!

I then moved to the Jacuzzi , only to find that the same 2 guys followed me into the jacuzzi (not following me, just came in after I did)

One sat down, the other then moved between his legs and started picking the hair on his partners chest! Then I noticed the one guy got out of the jacuzzi, and had a hard on going! He just stood there and admired the other naked men in the showers. I could not believe my eyes!

If this was to be a male / female situation it would be battling out in the court rooms for years to come.

So if the same sex marriage was to be allowed, how would you stop this type of behavior from taking place on a regular basis?

Would you need to build a seperate gay locker facility, like you do for male/female patrons now? would gay people be happy with this situation? or would the complaints of ineaquality make it a cost prohibitive thing for business to do?

What about this? should I , or the people in the showers that were being ogled by this man with his hard on raging, Sue the gym for sexual harrasment?

What about the hetro guys, that feel violated by this man, the same as a woman would if it were a straight guy doing this to them in the showers?

I would like to know all of your input on this, as it is something that has put my liberal stance in question...as to what I would vote on this issue now.

Allowing or not allowing gay marriages wouldn't have changed your experience. It would have happened either way. Some people like showing public display of affection. Not much you can do about it...

This has nothing to do with gay marriage. You just realized that you aren't comfortable having homosexuals around you in a variety of situations. You didn't mention marriage once, after the introduction. If what you saw was a problem, then it is a problem with homosexuality, not gay marriage. Something for you to think about.

Personally, it's not a big deal. It shows that segregating restrooms etc. by sex, something we are all used to now, was based on heterosexual assumptions. I've lived in dorms with mixed restrooms, and it was no big deal. Its something people can get used to. Just because someone is attracted to a certain gender does not mean they constantly have inappropriate thoughts, or that they ever do inappropriate things. And when someone does do something inappropriate, that is a problem with that individual, not everyone of their sexual orientation.

Here in Buenos Aires same sex marriages are legal since last month, and the first woman-woman couple married is a couple I know. Good people, not friends but really good people, and if it makes them happy, well, nice for them. Same sex marriage has nothing to do with sex, but with legal rights and obligations (like social security, heritage rights, right to adopt, etc), it's like hetero people who's in a couple but not married, law is not the same for them as if they're married.

Let's suppose you're gay. Or let's suppose I'm gay. I don't care.... it's an example. Now... there's nothing "magical" about being fucking gay alright. It's a sexual preference. Nothing more. Thats just it man... I am not offended by gays, I have seen them make out at parties, show affection in public, I have friends that are gay that come to my house and eat dinner or spend the day with my family...I have business associates that are gay... (both male and female)

You just realized that you aren't comfortable having homosexuals around you in a variety of situations. You didn't mention marriage once, after the introduction. If what you saw was a problem, then it is a problem with homosexuality, not gay marriage. Something for you to think about. Personally, it's not a big deal. It shows that segregating restrooms etc. by sex, something we are all used to now, was based on heterosexual assumptions. I've lived in dorms with mixed restrooms, and it was no big deal. Its something people can get used to. Just because someone is attracted to a certain gender does not mean they constantly have inappropriate thoughts, or that they ever do inappropriate things.
