I used a PC before I ever used a Mac. I hated using computers, though I liked the idea of the things I could do. Then I started playing with Macs at a local college, and realized how it *could* be. The first computer I owned myself was a Mac.

Years later, I worked in IT Support. There were 350 windows machines and four macs, so basically I did Windows support. That operating system is crap. I don't care about the UI, that's a preference-- but the stability and architecture was a joke.

And frankly, it isn't getting better. Interesting fact: Most enterprise locations stay one generation behind on Windows. For instance, many are now using 2000 rather than going to XP. The reason is simple-- more than one generation behind, and recent aps don't work as well, but each generation gets more bloated and unstable.

The transition is VERY easy. I was hired as a Graphic Designer/Marketing Manager for a Cosmetics Manufacturer and they asked if I had experience on a Mac and I said I did although I had never used one and it took me less than 30 minutes to be working efficiently on it.

I miss the ole G4

Once you start using OSX and really get used to it and all it can do, you will NEVER want to use a Windows machine again.

its funny how people have so many problems with winxp. learn how to set it up before you complain about it.

my stats:

[Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 1 (5.1 - 2600)] CPU: [1-Intel Pentium 4, 1993MHz, 256KB (9% Load)]. Uptime: [5days 22hrs 14mins 49secs]. Record Uptime: [7w 17h 2m 47s]. RAM [Usage: 399/512MB (77.93%) ]

never crashes, never freezes, NEVER. i reboot every two weeks because my computer lags. i think its the sdram. oh well

ps. macs are great for work, but thats about it. very little game and other fun support. if you're a work horse you should of already switched over.

I switched to a MAC from Win2K about 3 months ago. I still run Win2K in emulation on the MAC for a few applications that I need.

Why did I switch, I was tired of dealling with Microsoft OS's the bugs, the security holes, the viruses etc. Win2K was and is a good OS, Win XP is a PIG and would ahve required new ahrdware anyhow. I do run WinXP on a few machines in our office and HATE the lockin to the hardware that makes upgrades and replacing hardware a challenge.

I am very happy with the transition. I would say moving over and accomidating to the change to9ok about one hour.
