A lot of americans seem to have a bit of arrogance in them, and seem to base their own personal importance on stuff they never ever had a thing to do about themselves.

But don't forget to mention you have god knows how many millions in prison, the murder capital of the world, millions of people living of money they dont even have with their credit cards.

It's not as simple as saying: the US sucks or the US is God. I'd just wish people would lay of the arrogance and the 'police the world-thing'. I mean, it just makes matters worse. With US interverence all over the world, I'm surprised those airliners didn't hit the Twin Towers years ago. PS. Don't get me wrong, that stuff is just plain sick.

It's al about culture, and that's just the thing that makes people 'itchy'. In my opinion, people in the USA are taught (not sure about the spelling...english is not my native language) to love their country, land of the brave, hail to the flag and all that semper fi stuff. That proudness is a very important part of the US-identity, and in itself there is nothing wrong with that.

Other countries are much less into this kinda thing and to them this can be somewhat 'sickening'. The thing is that proudness and arrogance are very close to eachother, and are easily either mistaken for one another or even worse, leading to the other.

I can't think of any reason why I'd ever want to "love a country" whether it is my own or any other. (Sure, there are nice places!)
I care more about people than a "country".

The "hail stuff", whether it is the flag of the US or the Third Reich is just propaganda for the masses. I can't even say I am "proud" of my own country - and sure can't see any other country that anyone should feel "proud" over! :-)

That is not to say, I don't respect those who fought in wars for their country - particularly if it was a "valid" war - ie not a concept based on lies and deceit.

Sadly .. gotta agree with you .. there is a great lack of communication and understanding between the US and the rest of the world - the 5% seem out of step with the 95%.
