Re-installed w98, DHCP gone -> no internet :/
Anybody any idea as to what I can do to solve this crap?
I don't have email or icq now to talk, so this is the only way ![]() During my w98se install, it gavce me a message about DHCP not being able to be installed or something like that, not sure what it was. Anyway, I did an ipconfig in msdos modus and got this: C:\WINDOWS>ipconfig Windows 98 IP Configuration 0 Ethernet adapter : IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . : 1 Ethernet adapter : IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.129 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1 2 Ethernet adapter : IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 169.254.219.103 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . : I have 2 network cards in there, it used to work fine, but I had some other issues which made me re-install. |

DHCP is a utility that asks a remote server (usually your router or netowork) for a dynamically assigned ip address. You might try setting static IP addresses in the 192.168 range on both cards to see if it starts working.

You may want to re-install completely. DHCP should be part of a normal, successful installation.
