Re-installed w98, DHCP gone -> no internet :/
 

Anybody any idea as to what I can do to solve this crap?

I don't have email or icq now to talk, so this is the only way:helpme

During my w98se install, it gavce me a message about DHCP not being able to be installed or something like that, not sure what it was.

Anyway, I did an ipconfig in msdos modus and got this:

I have 2 network cards in there, it used to work fine, but I had some other issues which made me re-install.

Typing http://192.168.2.1 in a browser doesn't do anything.

Format C is not gonna happen

DHCP is a utility that asks a remote server (usually your router or netowork) for a dynamically assigned ip address. You might try setting static IP addresses in the 192.168 range on both cards to see if it starts working.

Why are you using Windows 98?

Becasue this is an older pc, the one I use now has XP. But I need the other one for contacts, like email / icq.

You may want to re-install completely. DHCP should be part of a normal, successful installation.

Hmm, that sucks, but might be best.

Isn't this normally 192.168.1.1 ?

Not according to my readme/installation files. Still no luck though, I'm getting frustrated here :/
