I agree. Fuck celebrities anyway, they make money off their faces.. like we really care how intelligently they present themselves or their view on the war. I'm sure there are pro-war celebrities, but the media doesn't give them any airtime.

Agree completely, STFU Celebs and keep making your horrific war movies showing people getting blown apart, meteors crashing into earth movies, giant alien movies, and all the crap ripoff films that comes out of Hollywierd these days.

Which ones are you talking about? I haven't really been following, but I have a feeling Barbara Streisand, Martin Sheen, and Alec Baldwin are just a select few. Baldwin swore he would move to another country if Bush was elected. What the fuck is he still doing here?

A couple weeks ago I was at a pre-screening of The Life of David Gale. Kevin Spacey was there afterwards for a short Q&A session. Someone asked him if he felt that celebrities have a responsibility to "lead" the general public. His answer was kick ass.

Celebrities are meant to entertain. Not share their personal "knowledge" with the public. What the fuck do they know about world politics? Foreign affairs? Domestic politics? Fuck all. They're actors. They have been educated in the arts, not political science and business.

And then we have the idiots who actually care what these "knowledgeable celebrities" have to say. Christ. People need to wake the fuck up.

Fuck celebrities. They live in beautiful homes with luxury vehicles, they have no idea what it's like to be an average American.

Just like the people who spew their opinions here. They can say whatever they want, who cares.

I haven't heard any celebrities say anything about the troops. Please show me what you're talking about, or at least explain.

Everybody has a right to an opinion, and everybody has a right to voice that opinion. That's America. That's the freedom those soldiers are supposed to be fighting for, so why would you want to shut people up?

Despite my unbearable lust for the Barabarella Jane Fonda, she said some good things in the old days.

Celebs have always 'shared their opinion' I dont see why it matters any less now then it did back then, and they wanted to hang Jane

hahah

It's a free country. They can do whatever the hell they want. There have plenty of celebrities who have also come out in support of the war. BTW....Reagan was an actor. Likewise, Scwarzenegger, Charlton Heston and Bruce Willis, are all Republicans, and are politically very vocal.

It's their right!

What part of the constitution that protects our freedom of expression do people have difficulty understanding??

Also, where did these celebrities start talking smack about the troops? Source? If they did, I'd say they're pretty stupid, but it's their right to be.

Lots of people seem to believe that.

Another question...

Why is it always those who self identify as patriots who believe that to protect freedom, they must squash free speech?

You're right. Although there's a difference between speaking your opinion and becoming the next Jane Fonda. But, like you, I have no idea what playa was referencing.

Funny, I was going to post the same thing. If you talk the talk, you should walk the walk.

I support the entire bill of rights, 1 through 10. What's up with all these people who think the Constitution is like cafeteria, that you can pick and choose what rights people should have, or when a paticular right doesn't apply universally.

Geez....it just dawned on me that I'm almost agreeing with Gutterboy who politically is on the complete end of the spectrum as me...

Hey, Joe....did you see the results from that political test? You (and Gutterboy) came up as overall the least like me. Joe was 3rd least like me and Gutterboy 5th least like me. LOL

George Washington (you know, the Father of our country) warned against maintaining a large standing army. Why? Because they tend to create their own policies and seek out missions for themselves when they get bored. He was a very smart man, and it turns out he was right.

So many military people today say "Hey, just let us do our job, that's all we ask". Well, sorry assholes, when "doing your job" involves harassing other countries for no reason, pissing off our allies, acting as muscle for petty political disputes, and undermining freedom, then TRUE patriotic Americans have a right to call you out.

Can any sane person really claim that 300K troops in Kuwait are really protecting America's freedom?

People dig their own graves. It was Hanoi Jane's right and she paid the price. She forever destroyed her reputation, at least in my eyes.

Hey i didn't say shit about it being wrong to take a stance

like i said you have the freedom to say whatever you want

but to call the military over there a bunch of killers and losers is crossing the line

its almost becoming like the Vietnam Era
the soldiers come back and they gets no love or respect from the people

If any soldier has a problem with being a killer i'd say they are in the wrong biz.

But agreed, the politicians are to blame. Not the soldiers. Unless they actually do commit war crimes down there.

We'll never know though, the US backed out of the war crimes court...

"You have the freedom to say whatever you want, except when I think its over the line"

hahaha, grow the fuck up. You don't realize how idiotic that is, do you? Let me make it as simple as possible..

Is it only you who gets to judge whats over the line? Maybe I think that calling peace protesters losers is over the line.. should I be able to shut you up? Why should your opinion about whats 'over the line' be preferenced over mine?

And in fact, most of the people who I knew who went into the military were losers. They went in because they weren't smart enough to go to college, couldn't support themselves after HS, some were racists who wanted to kill sand ******s, and various similar reasons.

Hey sorry but not everyone was born with a silver spoon in their mouth, I didn't grow up in the best schools or had parents that went to college. joining the military was the best thing for me

But guess why every job application you apply for always ask about your military experience?

Because they want to know if you have any military experience?

I would just like to know why you believe that the military should be above criticism? The only way people accusing the military of being baby killing losers is going to hurt is if there is some basis to those accusations.

In Vietnam there certainly was.

Maybe that says more about who you hang around with rather than who goes into the military. I have a lot of friends who are in or went into the military who were far from being losers. Some had graduated from college. Others didn't have the money for college, so they did the G.I. Bill and went to college afterwards.

The keyword in that sentence might be "elected".

I am starting to believe that its not really anti-war but an excuse for anti-bush

Thats the beauty of america, people have the right to spit in the faces of others that made their life of freedom and luxury possible. Recent polls show over 80% of the people could care less what a celeb thinks about political/diplomatic situations. Everyone who knows what is going on understands their view on world affairs are nothing short of ignorance.

I agree, Bush may be a crazy evil bastard, but the troops are just following orders and risking their lives, and everyone should support them. We don't need another Jane Fonda.

I guess those 300K of troops just decided one day 2 hop on a few ships and plane's and go on over there.

If the military people today didn't say "Hey, just let us do our job.
We'd will be in big trouble, I remember Nam myself. That's exactly what happened the military didn't say "Hey, just let us do our job.

There are several countries which either have no armies or "limited versions" - the test of time is that they have never been involved in wars or had any terrorist threats. These are the most stable countries in the world.

No, this has nothing to do with "America's freedom". Potential attackers of the US are not attacking because of "America's freedoms" anyway.

People in the military are doing more harm than good.

They're firing into crowds in Baghdad (http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlates...023932,00.html)
and generally creating enemies for America. The very reason that terrorists are attacking us is because our military is occupying foreign countries and taking sides in foreign wars.

The US military needs to be brought home to protect America rather than being used as hired killers for corporate America and the Bush family.

But most military members are extremely gung-ho about fighting any enemy that the government invents and are always falling in line and belieiving whatever the president tells them.

Someone above said "what the fuck do actors know about world politcs?"

Well, I'm sure they know more about world politics than you and I do.

For the most part, we are pornographers on this board. We all have opinions about world politics, but what the fuck qualifies us to speak about it? Actors aren't much different than us. They read the same newspapers, books, and watcht he news just like we do. Thus, they are just as qualified to have their own opinions about world politics - with one difference.

While you and I chat about it on a message board, they pay $1000 a plate to have dinner with Presidents and God only knows who else.

its almost becoming like the Vietnam Era
the soldiers come back and they gets no love or respect from the people
So, if you had been around 50 some years ago and a citizen of Germany you would have said the same to people about Hitler's troops in WWII? Don't go disrespecting the troops..they're just following orders?
