All software firewalls blow. ZoneAlarm trashed the IP stack and caused OS reinstall on at least 2 friends of mine's pc.

Spend the $35 and get a hardware router.

I've posted this many times since my arrival at GFY I think....

The last FREEWARE version of Tiny Personal Firewall (2.0.15)
is probably one of the easiest to use, software firewalls available.

And it kicks ass - it has just the right amount of features, but not so many that it would overwhelm too many people.

But you should STILL run a good hardware firewall/router/switch combo blackbox (like LinkSys, Dlink, SMC etc.. but stay away from SMC).
