GloBill - New AVN Online Article
interesting new article from AVN Online about the Globill disaster. Talks about also problems in the billing industry and how other companies might go down.
Here are a couple of paragraphs. MOre at the link: "It's unfortunate what happened to GloBill," First Amendment attorney Larry Walters commented to AVN Online. "They are another casualty of the heavy-handidness with which the merchant banks and credit card companies are treating adult material. "The regulations that are being pushed on the third-party billers by the credit card companies could result in potentially catastrophic consequences for the industry and for Internet users. I predict we're going to see a number of smaller billing companies go under, and the smaller Websites and Webmasters are going to have a very difficult time in the marketplace because of the increased fees, chargebacks and other regulations." Visa Regulations Hit GloBill Hard . . .

veddy, veddy interesting read. Interesting indeed.
I really think that in a year or two there might only be a couple of billing companies left. Almost all serious webmasters will eventually have their own merchant accounts. |

Interesting article. But I doubt globill was over the chargeback limit. My chargebacks will globill were essentially zero. Their antifraud tools were pretty good. Sounds more like Visa went after all the offshore billers who were not doing the $750 or maybe nailed them on some other technicality.
I wonder now how long Verotel and Globosale will last or if they are next on the chopping block. For that matter, I would not be surprised if the iBill's, CCbill's and paycoms also run into problems should visa/mc come out with even more stringent rules int he future. Seems like they want to strangle third party and have everyone use their own merchan t account instead. |
