ImageReady has a number of specialized batch commands within it that aren't appropriate, or would never be needed, for doing print work. General rule is to use PhotoShop for print, ImageReady for web.

Also, I might note that the "Help" files aren't too helpful when it comes to distinguishing between the two programs. If you ever come to a point that it tells you to use a command that you can't find listed where it's supposed to be, go to the bottom of the tools window and use the "Jump to" feature to get to the other program. That way, your work will still be there with the needed commands now available.

awesome fiveyes, thx.

now i know i don't really have to mess with imageready since we use ps mostly for printing.

biggest use for ImageReady is slicing a design into HTML, and animated GIFs. It does batch processing but so does Photoshop.

Ahhh, but Photoshop doesn't have any concept of "Variables"! Once you get a handle on that in ImageReady, you'll be kicking out some web graphics!

I use Photoshop for everything except animations so I don't need Image Ready at all. I find Ulead's GIF Animator creates much smaller animation files at a higher quality than Image Ready can
