Interesting question - is it possible for an affiliate with strict expense controls to make more money than the sponsor with the overhead of bandwidth, etc..?

Uh yeah, 50% programs that dont make you share processing fees. If they share exit consoles and upsells with ya.

there are huge expenses accociated with running a paysite...but alot of the initial surfers your affiliates send will be back and you get the full cut the second time around...so you just have to eat the expenses and lose money for the first 6 months or so then it's gravy

yeah I'm talking about 50/50 partnerships. This is all based on the premise that a sponsor will do less marketing than a motivated affiliate. On the other hand, a sponsor has many affiliates and also higher volume - but still, if you represent say even 5-10% of their total sales and get 50% net, that's still as much as say 20% net on the sponsor's 50% = 10% - you can catch up pretty quick.

If there are few affiliates, then the program usually makes more money.

Most small niche sites, and amateur ones that offer partnerships, usually will do their own marketing. However, the larger sites that mainly rely on affiliates, the affiliates make more.

Can one affiliate make more than the entire paysite? Maybe, but not likely.

Just use a list of stolen cards on a PPS sponsor. You pay 2 $ per card and get 30 back per signup, that's what a call a good ROI. And you will always earn more than the sponsor, too!
