Thats a tough choice. Personally I'd go for the subaru. I saw a head to head ocmparison on car and driver TV the other day. They chose the Evo because it was a little easier and more fun to drive. They are both great cars though. The blue WRX's with the gold rims are fucking pimp though. I think the WRX is a shade faster.

Agreed that both are good cars and agreed with picking the Subaru.
Most Mits models are good cars, moderately priced, and vastly underrated. And, props to Mitsubishi for recognizing the mostly overlooked younger buyer market. They were the first manufacturer to offer first time buyer, college grad, and low to no credit incentives. Subarus, however, proven longevity. My cousin in Alaska has put over 300K miles on a Subaru Outback (and that's with regular oil changes, no high dollar repairs, and occasional new tires). ![]() |

I've personally watched quite a few Subarus smoke the Lancers.. It's the driver, not neccessarily the car, that wins the race. As for myself, I'd choose the Subaru.

Subaru all the way, strong enough to be the ram raider's car of choice.

EVO's are always FASTER, LESS COMMON, AND MORE EXPENSIVE.

Subaru has a much, much more reliable transmission. They screwed up pretty badly with the previous gen WRX so they went overboard getting it right in this one. In fact, Subaru tranny is more advanced in every department. EVO tranmission is one of the most basic AWD one on the market. If you plan on adding some power to the car, definetly go WRX.

They are very very similar...

If you're talking about the American versions then get the STI.
The American Lancer Evolution is MISSING the traction controls that make it legendary overseas. The STI is the same as it is in Japan. However, do you REALLY want a econobox-looking car? |

the problem with both those cars is that after you've passed 60 mph, it's passed it's peak accelleration and becomes slow as fuck

EVO = Legendary 4G63 motor.
Already putting down 450WHEEL horsepower. Stock turbo'd cars have went 11.8, with minimal bolt ons. Great platform, and even without all the fancy suspension electronics will still out handle a STI. STI has had a few problems already, a few things strike me as "not good". One being the ECU problems. The make the numbers they posted, they had to run a very unsafe method of tune on the ECU's, and on some pump gas, it caused audible knock. As a few of you know, this is not good. ECU reflashes are available at the dealer, but they will more than likely take a few horsepower away. Bone stock. Also, the stock turbo on the STI is undersized. Not only will this limit long term reliability, but also performance gains from "bolt ons". On the flip side, the EVO's are having clutch problems. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a recall for them, or mitsubishi started putting better/more stronger pressure plates in them, but on the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if Mitsu said "FUCK YOU BITCHES" Look at the track record with the 2g eclipses.. In the end, it's up to you. DSM/EVO guys are a real close nit bunch, and Subaru owners don't seem as much that way. Whatever fits your fancy. i have impreza wrx sti, not the one you post the picture, but the previous model with 5-speed manual transmission. it's lighter in about 150 kg and has f*cking impressive dynamic: it jumps on start - it's not really comfortable, but i'm the first after traffic light goes green
![]() i had other gt-cars: honda prelude & integra type-r, toyota celica ss-ii ssp - she looks so sweet, but there's no fun to drive - she is so heavy & slow ![]() |
