damn they are good this year! freakin size of ping pong balls and not a mark on them. must be some kind of biological engineering, mutant cherries.

when does cherry season end? hope soon cuz the porcelain on my toilet aint gonna hold up much longer!

Yes I've been buying them alot myself lately, they are cheap in Chicago.

I remember as a kid we would raid cherry trees and of course you took the risk of worms and blemishes. Looks like the zirconium radiation took care of those minor hassles eh?

exactly what i was thinking.

i grew up in one of the world's largest fruit growing regions, a short bike ride to farm after farm of nothing but fruit. we'd sit there all day long eating til we'd puke, but the fruit was so inferior to what it is today, a cherry was half the size of today's and even with the pesticides farmers were using in the 70's, there were still lots of worms and bruises.

the season for cherries over here is in May, early June

My girlfriend just made a massive cherry pie for me with fresh cherries. I plan on eating the whole thing myself. She bakes it, I eat it.

Growing up, I spent my summers in Utah and always enjoyed raiding the cherry trees, apricot trees, strawberry fields and apple orchards and we'd eat all this fresh fruit until we puked...as a kid, I barely knew what candy was. We had a food dehydrater so we had fruit snacks throughout the year.

Did you know that cherry pits have natural cyanide? My ex-girlfriend didn't know any better & fed her pet chinchilla a bunch of cherries & it didn't know any better then to eat the pits so it died a horrible, painful death over the next day or two. It actually passed away when she finally realized something was seriously wrong & right as she was pulling into the vet's parking lot. Just a fun fact for ya....

I find it hard to believe that a chinchilla would even touch a cherry... mine wont eat anything containing more moisture than a raisin or dried cranberry. and i know that is true for most chinchillas.

i think cherry season depends on how long your pesticide spray lasts as well. here in kelowna, my grandparents have 4 huge cherry trees in their yard. the spray they get only lasts 2 weeks before you are not protected against worms anymore... damn they were good though. so huge! my hands and arms and shoes were dyed red from picking. i cant wait till peach season though. thats my favorite. peaches cut up in a bowl of cream and sugar! yum!
well at least kelowna is good for something.
