Was it ever a possibility in your head that maybe the gov and news channels withheld her capture announcement a few days so they could get a handle on things?

It's sad for the other ones, but nobody can do anything about them.
The US needs some " feel good" material, and Jessica Lynch is as best as they can get, which shows that there is not much out there.
