Lensman spamming?

I got an email from lens wanting to bid on my hosting and thought nothing of it. I honestly thought it was a serious email to me.

But I just got another one (exact same email copied and pasted) to a AOL email that I have no idea how he even got.

Whats the world coming to?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to see if we could bid on your hosting. We can get you a screaming deal.

We opened the Jupiter Hosting datacenter 5 months ago, but have not made the services to the general webmaster community until now. With the new industry economics, it's more important than ever to not overpay for hosting.

Check out the press release below,

Thanks

Lens

Deleted? As in the same kinda deletion that may happen to your GFY user name?

I am not complaining about you calling out a spammer but your choice of forums for this is not exactly the best.

Cheers anyway. You got balls.

BTW...For anybody that needs them....Ryan does a killer job on business cards.

That is not SPAM.

It's useful industry information.

Just like my newsletters.

It is not SPAM it is targeted direct mail. The disappointing fact is that his sales person, who I did contact could not answer one question about the hosting product and never got back to me with the answers.

I am (was) a potential buyer. Doing marketing without the follow through to make the sale is a waste of everyone's time and resources.

I would like to see a Webmaster who has never e-mailed their affiliates. I think some of these comments are a little hypocritical. Lensman sending his webmasters an e-mail about a firm in which his company owns a percentage of sounds like a sound marketing technique. You even had the option to opt out of future mailings, which the last time I checked, are pretty rare events.

That's all I'm going to say about that.

We have had a great response to the launch of Jupiter, and if this is the worst folks can say about my business, I'm feeling pretty good tonight.

As for not being able to answer technical questions, I doubt that. Our account managers are some pretty savvy folks, all be it under a little stress managing the response to our launch. If you do not feel you have received the attention needed and that we have not done enough for us to earn your business, e-mail me personally at ray AT jupiterhosting dot com. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks for the kudos Brad. I owe you a drink in Florida!

I thought I was special because the email seemed so personal. It was like lensman was talking to me.

Well after I got that second email to a different account I guess I was just a little hurt.

I wasnt special like I thought I was when I got the first one.

What I find hilarious about the emails to GFY members is that one time I was fucking around with the Stephen Tackaks threads and another time with some P I M P DO G threads, and I registered some BS names that ended up getting banned.

Of course the emails I used to register the names that are now banned also get the "opt in marketing emails" from adult.com also.

I can only imagine how many copies of these emails Boneprone gets.

Hi SpeakEasy - I didn't see that. Sorry. At this time, no we do not. You can get a dedicated box with us for as low as $119 a month with an Intel 2.2Ghz CPU, 512 MB RAM, and a 80GB HD with 150GB of bandwidth. We think our prices are low enough for the virtual folks to go dedicated. Always nice to be on your own box!

Hm, this Jupiter hosting thing looks cheap but we are talking about Cogent bandwidth here, so better be careful. Interesting article here:

I got the same email and deleted it after reading this article.

Nice first post, get your facts straight. No Cogent anywhere on Jupiter's network.
