this is the weirdest movie I have seen but buckaroo is a close second

clubsexy 07-17-2003 11:26 AM

The weirdest movie I think is called

NAKED LUNCH... David Lynch, starring the guy from RoboCop 1 and 2....

You gotta be high to watch it... and let's not forget

FEAR and LOATHING in LAS VEGAS

Johnny Depp fans get this one!

Sarah_Jayne 07-17-2003 11:32 AM

come to think of it Howard The Duck was pretty screwed up too

Penthouse_mike 07-17-2003 11:37 AM

Ichi The Killer

Supposedly its depictions of violence were so raw, that at the toronto film fest they handed out barf bags to the audience.

traffictrader 07-17-2003 11:42 AM

eroswebmaster, happiness isn't so much "weird" as it is "creepy and disturbing"

GapingWound 07-17-2003 11:52 AM

'A Boy and his Dog' and 'Pi' are my 2 favorite "weird" movies, though 'Donnie Darko' is out there as well.

Yeah...nothing about that movie was right. Eating spaghetti in that dirty tub, killing cats, retarted prostitutes...nasty...

Here are a review of it from Rotten Tomatoes, lol...

"By the end, one almost wishes another tornado would descend and wash away these subnormal characters for whom there is neither redemption nor purpose in life." - Elspeth Haughton

Hawkeye 07-17-2003 01:28 PM

Brazil.

End of thread.

cronos 07-17-2003 01:34 PM

American Pie.....Totally out there

The Porn Dude 07-17-2003 01:36 PM

I completely forgot a really good one that isn't the weirdest but weird and definetely a good rent. It is called "Him and Me". It is about a guy and his penis only you get to hear the penis voice his opinions, pretty freaking hilarious.

The movie made us realize that not everyone has a shiny happy existance, especially in a town subject to such extreme poverty. Most of the characters in that movie were really people froma small town and not actors.

My "favorites" are the skinhead brothers who fight in the kitchen....

Jamdin 07-17-2003 01:48 PM

Another weird cult movie is Wild In The Streets (one of my favorites) :thumbsup

HighRoller 07-17-2003 04:18 PM

Wow I have not seen most of these
I see naked lunch comes up a lot, I will have to check that out

I didn't think American Pie, Run Lola Run, and Howard the Duck were that weird compared to The Dark Backward, doesn't look like anyone else but me has seen that movie.

I actually own it on video

to me, the weirdest thing about it was James Caan as the quack doctor and Rob Lowe as the tv producer with the massive chompers...

Sarah_Jayne 07-17-2003 04:34 PM

for the record I was just being a smart ass with Howard the Duck..I do have better taste in films :)

unconnected 07-17-2003 04:48 PM

Bill Paxton was also in Lost Highway wasn't he?
That movie was completely fucked up..

Waking life was also pretty messed up..

How about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas?

I can't say that Pulp fiction deserves to be even in the top 100 of this list.. Pulp Fiction actually makes sense.. It has a Story line that I can follow.. those other 3 sure as well don't..

Same for Jacobs Ladder. Fucked up film

DiVo 07-17-2003 04:59 PM

Anyone watch Spirited away yet?

I know its a cartoon and kind of a kids movie, but man that is a trip.

When that old woman says,"And one more thing call me grannie." I nearly flipped.

And that line "Your name is the hoku river" WTF?

I am not an anime fan at all but I happened upon this one and it was worth the time. I think it is rated G, but if your 9 year old niece understands this movie take her to drug rehab immediately.

For actual weird movies I thought Grey Gardens was out there.

American Movie. Strangeness of reality.

Happiness was just plain foul. It is the only movie that has ever made me nauseous. Kind of a tub girl feeling. Not like looking at tub girl, but being tub girl.

nazgul 07-17-2003 05:22 PM

Man you guys don't know wierd.... Here is a list to get you started

Mullholand Drive
Lost Highway
PI
Requeim for a Dream
Donnie Darko
A Clockwork Orange

I could go on and on, but this is a good place to start

That movie rocks!!!!! It is very alice in wonderlandesque, but very very cool

nazgul 07-17-2003 05:25 PM

100

HighRoller 07-17-2003 06:17 PM

what weird ones are in the theatres or now on video?

Identity was kinda weird not like the above
but a very cool movie.

slackologist 07-17-2003 07:46 PM

Dark City

Penthouse_mike 07-17-2003 09:07 PM

David Lynch movies or donnie darko aren't weird

LE SANG DES BETES

1950s suburban Paris, serene, peaceful- intercut with graphic depictions of the slaughter of livestock in an abbatoir- because underneath everyday life lies brutality and torture. I saw this in university. Not many people could sit thru more than 10-15 minutes.

frankfortuna 07-17-2003 11:01 PM

Boxing Helena certainly qualifies as bizarre.

Zebra 07-18-2003 12:05 AM

Another good weird movie was Siesta with Ellen Barkin and Gabriel Byrne. Had an ending similar to The Sixth Sense but was made in 1987.

People Under The Stairs was pretty weird

Dreamscape freaked me out when I first saw it.

A burglar who sings songs to time his burglaries and no actual storyline got me.

wtf? that's a hilarious movie

404 07-18-2003 12:15 AM

has anyone said "eraserhead" yet? do not see this movie stoned.

sherie 07-18-2003 08:01 AM

Requiem for a Dream
The Virgin Suicides

C_U_Next_Tuesday 07-18-2003 08:26 AM

cant leave out John Waters..

Pink Flamingos has to be one of the wierdest as long as sickest movies I have ever seen..and I loved it!!!

AdultKing 07-18-2003 08:32 AM

"If Footmen Tire You, What will Horses do ?"

A very strange B&W baptist propoganda film which is also very funny.

This film defines the word "wierd".
