Hey I know im a knowbody but I would like a request could you all ad a new section of board to name off proven scammers, and only allow the adult com staff to post or admins to post on there so you all wont get into trouble for slander. This shouldnt be too hard and would think your banners would make up more money on that section of board. These god damn scammers like tom davis are hurting alot of newbs and season webmasters and need to be stopped with a KNOWN SCAMMER ALERT from the biggest adult board *shrugs* MIGHT be a stupid idea dont know

It sounds like a cool idea, but I would think there would be major legal entanglements.

Unless there is absolute proof ( and I dont know what that would constitute - then it could be seen as liable.)

Could it work? Who would be allowed to post there? Everyone? Then any little fuck could fabricate a story. What if the low-life-thief-scum-cheater posts that mr.A is a cheater there, and mr.A is actually the one cheated?

Heh, you can't check now since Lens has prevented spiders accessing GFY, but a while ago, if you used the Way Back Machine on gofuckyourself.com, you'd see what GFY was before it was a message board. A big Go Fuck Yourself to people who were known scammers.

I reckon it's a good idea, but there'd have to be some sort of way to prove the person was cheating. If there was just a misunderstanding, and someone's name ends up there, it could quite easily fuck up their reputation.

I know your thoughts are good at heart Tom but it just doesn't sound like a feasible or good idea. A couple of things come to mind.

What makes an admin or Adult.com staff an authority to the point where only they should be allowed to post someone is a scammer?

There obviously isn't much to verification, so what determines someone is a scammer? 1 bad deal with the wrong person, 10 bad deals with small webmasters? There isn't really a good determining figure.

I think that if someone is a scammer and there gets to be such a large consensus on the board of people who have been hurt and are reputable people, then a simple banning of an IP number does the trick in many cases and the outing of that person in a free discussion forum where everyone can participate.

This will work for most US, Canadian and UK or some coutries in Europe not mentioned. But for scammers in Russia, Bulgaria or where there is a degree of lawlessness, these guys operate behind many names. businesses and proxies so even a scam board won't stop them.

Just my thoughts.

It's not slander if you only post facts involving you and the scammer.

Obviously you wouldn't want to include "he may have also done this to 15 others" when you couldn't possibly know if that's factual or not.

If your box is down at a host for 24 hours and they didn't respond to any of your emails, then it's not slander to let everyone know.

If a designer agrees on a 1 week deadline and they take 2 weeks, that is not slander.

You are merely reporting factual events that took place.

Thanks for posting that link to Way Back Machine. On one of my mainstream sites I thought I'd lost a graphic while transferring hosting companies. Thanks to that I was able to retrieve it!

Webmasters can also start their own blacklist, to warn other webmasters about known scammers. Not like a tgp blacklist, but a web page where you list what you know about certain others, to warn your fellow webmasters.

I've had a blacklist page up for years now, and have links to it on all my sites. I mostly have websites listed and some known hotlinkers, sites that I have caught autodownloading shit etc. Hey it's a start.

Just how ebay has the credit rating system that you can rate buyer and seller comments before buying from these people, there really should be a centralized place where adult service providers can list their wares and have this same concept available.

The buyer has reports to read ( few lines and relevant things).

The sellers have their buyer profiles as well. ( few lines and relevant things.)

There is a admin group that will resolve disputes / issues. All parties have to have proof of contracts, reciepts, order forms, etc to document thier claims to resilve correctly.

And...We can all have one less headache to deal with.
