When I drop a 2 lbs. t-bone steak in front of my doggie and ask him not to touch it - then leave him alone & check back later - will the steak still be there? lol :glugglug

dude... you are making zero sense. I think you're a little confused on the exact nature of all this.

Company A has 500 million members on there site and they are hosted on a company that Company B owns.

Make any sense now?

Alot of sensitive materials that Company B would LOVE to get their hands on :)

Not saying they would, but who knows, I think thats what Madball is saying.

Let me get this straight.. the host with the most overloaded DNS Servers is best?

That's not one of the metrics I use to measure the quality of a host, but that's just me!

Madball 07-09-2003 08:19 PM

Well, unlike your graphics guy you at least got the point hahahaha :glugglug Have a good dinner!

I'm glad I don't have to spend my day thinking like a thief and trying to cover every possible scenario that a thief could come up with.

So, this then applies to CaveCreek, Candid, and SinHost (no offense guys) along with any other hosts who have direct or indirect involvement in any other aspects of the adult industry.

hmmmm. okay. I understand.. it's part of the decision making process. If this is the worst aspect of my company, then I am a happy man.

it applies to anyone in the service departments.... including me. Sure, I'm in a position to do some major ripping off....

like I said... I'm glad I don't think that way. Must be a pretty shitty existence and not one I care to live.

Yea now that's really smart. Host all your sensitive data with your competitor's hosting company! :thumbsup

I guess no one should host with Candid, or Flying Croc either, because they have paysites.

Your logic is flawed, just because a host doesn't have paysites, he is not interested in your email lists?

You must think we are the stupidest people on earth! Imagine if we stole a mailing list from a customer, don't you think those things are seeded like crazy? They would know it in about 2 seconds. They go public with it am I'm outta business with 12 different businesses we current operate. If anything, we would have much less incentive to access your data because we have much more to lose than a hosting-only company.

Think before you speak.

Just my :2 cents: but Ray is good person to work with and Ben and Josh also

Hey Amp/Lens does this mean that your servers won't crash for the 2,000,000 post contest like they did for the millionth? That was some good times though. =)

Haha, wasn't a datacenter issue. But we've got some plans for that one.

lordsofthekings 07-10-2003 10:03 AM

Arty 07-10-2003 11:21 AM

Congratulations for the launch...

As a new customer I must say that everything goes smooth as a silk. Thanks for the great service so far.

Take my advice and talk to them once before deciding anything.

We have several, 25 now, providers that are both transit, public, and private peers.

We use BGP4 to determine the best route between the browser and the server to deliver our customers content.

We are adding a peer a week, all be it transit or other.

That's pretty cool -- mostly what I heard last Internext was the Lensman had like 1 hop to anywhere important. This stuff fascinates me -- I'm thinking that some day I may try to learn more about hosting and send out some resumes... It's not a glam job, you got long hours and just average pay -- but it's a career you can be proud of and you get to work with good people -- and you get to chill out with computers all day and stay out of trouble... :)

TheFLY 07-10-2003 06:08 PM

So what is a peer? I don't exactly understand peering... is this like a mirror?
