That fee goes to feeding little kids in Africa.

Are you racist?

No, but I could be. Is there a special school for that? Whatever it takes, I'll do it.

KC 07-09-2003 03:08 PM

Congrats guys!

The Jupiter Data Center is great. I've toured it personally and watched them build it out since the beginning.

They used top quaility hardware and their tech staff is extremely knowledable. Bandwidth prices are great and the quality is excellent.

95% of my servers have been there since the beginning. The speed and reliability is excellent. I recommend them!

Sammy 07-09-2003 03:23 PM

Smegma 07-09-2003 03:34 PM

Hey Bone. You'll be in FL, right?

SpeakEasy 07-09-2003 03:38 PM

Do you offer any Virtual accounts? or just dedicateds?

Also on bandwidth, do you charge on monthly average, or on 95th% ??

Thanks In Advance

No man.
Im broke.
I cant afford to fly there and get a hotel.

Oh wait.
For a minute there I thought I was a hater and not a sellout!

LOL.

No, seriously I cant make internext this time.
It will be the first in many years I will be missing.

We just bought a house, its been getting built and the closing date is literally days before internext with the move in date during internext.

I wish there was a way around it I was hoping to pull something off last minute but I think its probably too late even if I wanted to go.

Sucks. Id like to think the GFY party would not be the same without me, but thats not gunna be the case.
ITs gunna be a blast.
SOmeone take pics for me. Normally Im the one taking the pics, but this time Im gunna have to live the life through you guys while Im at home. :(

YOu are gunna have to represent the Family.
Do it well.

We don't want anyone on your server but you, and we've made it affordable for everyone to get their own box.

We can bill any way you want. Capped, 95%, or Average. 95% is the lowest price.

How much to you need?

So what if I have a small site that does only like 10-20 gigs a month??....is there a plan for a small virtual plan for people like us?

Snake Doctor 07-09-2003 06:03 PM

Hey Lensman, what's with the 12 month contract requirement?
No one else I know of requires that, and a year is a loooooong time in this business.

You said yourself on the radio today that if you're still paying the same price for hosting as a year ago that you're getting ripped off.....and now you want me to promise you that I'll still pay the same price for bandwidth a year from now?

Sly_RJ 07-09-2003 06:06 PM

Congratulations guys!

Lensman 07-09-2003 06:42 PM

We are way lower than 8K for 100mbps. Shoot me an email if you need 10mbps or more.

chodadog 07-09-2003 06:53 PM

Like... whoa..

Smegma 07-09-2003 06:57 PM

That $8000 is for 100Mbps and two high-end servers. Also note, that next to that price it says that discounts are available.

We are offering a co-location special (on the specials page) - 100Mbps for 5000 / MRC. Good until Friday.

SandraB 07-09-2003 07:04 PM

Interesting ... a little expencive but I guess you have the best *nix boxes and good technical experience. Si I understand the concept.

Good luck with the project and we might come around one day.

Compared to my mindset and maybe RS

Lensman did you miss this post? I'd like to know why you require a 12 month comittment. That's the only thing keeping me from setting up a server there.

Drake 07-09-2003 07:20 PM

Kudos

It's really ironic to see a Candid Hos.... banner that even speaks at the top when I read this thread.

By the way. I love your webpage layout for your new hosting company. Good job.

Not bad for a Tier 4 provider :winkwink: Up +433

It took me a while to get to Tier 1 but it's nice to have
the peering agreements we have in place now.

I'd just like to say, I was pushing XFR here long before Lensman aquired XFR. The day he aquired XFR, they only got better. It was top notch pro shit back then and it is un-fucking-paralleled now. Launching Jupiter gives you guys an open window to get some serious hosting and rise above the entry-level shit you're on.

If you're gonna run with the big dogs, you know where to go. If you're a punk poser forehead-cocksmear.... well, we know what you do already.

Bash if you must, but at the end of the day, these servers are up and running strong. And that's the bottom line.

Brad Mitchell 07-09-2003 07:51 PM

Congrats Lensman! The site looks excellent and I'm sure that your company will have true staying power in our industry if your hosting company has the same level of integrity as all your other ventures :)

Reliable, HostCount doesn't mean shit... Their results for most hosts are so far off the mark it's completely laughable! Although, it's entertaining to see all of us with nice rankings.

Cheers,

Brad

Madball 07-09-2003 07:58 PM

Yea now that's really smart. Host all your sensitive data with your competitor's hosting company! :thumbsup

wha? You lost me....

everything I have is on XFR servers.

reliable 07-09-2003 08:02 PM

hmm well I use it to gauge the size of the network and see if they have peering agreements, etc

As for tracking it's uptime and downtime.. it seems to try to place companies based on a group of IP's and their performance.. so that could be quite biased.. who knows what IP's they are tracking right?

But the size and peering agreement information is fairly accurate and much of this information can be found at fixedorbit.com

Ummm... what? You do realize that these are two different companies. That ICS's involvement extends only to the board room. Read the post.

OMG - Are you kidding me??

Fixed orbit only lists adjacencies and you know that. It does not list all of your peers. Hell, we have 20+ more peers than what fixedorbit lists (LOL). Hostcount only counts the number of domains you host in DNS and whois info.. I could spoof hostcount and be in the top 25 (but apparently you already knew that). Give me some credit and get your own thread.

Amputate Your Head 07-09-2003 08:07 PM

100 bitches.

reliable 07-09-2003 08:11 PM

I never said it was 100% accurate, but the info that is available is useful enough.
