ASHINGTON -- By putting together one of the most racially diverse administrations in US history, President Bush has met a challenge that Colin Powell issued to the Republican Party at its 2000 convention, but critics say the president has failed to live up to other expectations that his policies would benefit minorities.

Bush has appointed more minorities to top-level government positions than President Clinton did when he put his first administration together. Powell was tapped by Bush to serve as secretary of state, the first time an African-American has ever held one of the four Cabinet posts regarded as the most powerful. Condoleezza Rice, Bush's national security adviser, is the first black person to serve in that crucial position.

But minority leaders say Bush has fallen short in implementing housing, education, and tax policies that would benefit their constituencies. They criticize him for opposing affirmative action policies, which Powell had urged Republicans to embrace and the Supreme Court recently allowed to continue.

Bush is meeting his goal of increasing the number of minorities who own homes, but the gap in ownership rates between whites and minorities has actually grown. Minority unemployment is up. The president is also faulted for proposing what critics call inadequate funding for his new education law, cutting funds for after-school programs, and seeking tax cuts that have done less for lower-income minorities.

Just because you appoint a few black guys to your cabinet doesn't mean shit. When's the last time Bush actually listened to anything Powell said? Some of Bush's closest allies are racist fuckers like Trent Lott.

As far as your comment about the Mexicans taking over, the ones that are going to "take over" are American citizens who pay taxes and vote. The very fact you are talking about them "taking over" means you must think they are taking over from some other group, right? Maybe it's their turn.

- In 1997, then-President Zedillo proclaimed that ?I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders.?

- Mexican American Legal Defense Fund founder Mario Obledo stated, ?California is going to be a Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn't like it should leave. Every constitutional office in California is going to be held by Hispanics in the next 20 years.? People who don't like such demographic changes ?should go back to Europe.? (Incidentally, Mr. Obledo was also the California Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Gov. Jerry Brown.)

- Mexico's President Fox has been unrelenting in his brazen demands on the United States, starting with open borders even before he was elected. He has called for the border to be ?a joining line.? His visits to the U.S. have been filled with endless requirements for Mexican citizens illegally in this country ? free healthcare, taxpayer-subsidized in-state tuition for illegals at state colleges and universities, guestworker programs and amnesty for all.

Furthermore, several million of these Mexicans are living illegally in the United States.

If you walk up to the average Mexican in the South-West of America, I doubt very highly they will define themselves as American. They know it, their President knows it, but priveleged Whites still can't see it ...

Their turn to what? To control a nation built by someone else. Once upon a time wars were fought to take over a nation, today whiney little politicians are selling them!

Millions of Anglo-Americans died for America! They died not for the Mexicans who are invading your country., but rather for their children, and their childrens children. The died for the future of their people as a whole, and not the future of the Mexicans.

How long now ... until immigrants rule Britian, Holland and America ... not long is my guess!

I can tell this argument is pointless, but why not?

First of all, the only Mexicans who can "take over" are the ones who have the right to vote. Those are citizens, they are Americans.

In your world, are only the people directly descended from people who fought in the revolution are Americans? How about the decedents of those who fought in WWI, WWII? What about Vietnam or the Gulf War? What about those who haven't fought in any wars yet because they aren't old enough?

Do you know how many Mexican Americans are in Iraq right now? There have been a number of funerals for Mexican American military men who have died over there in the last few months. I would guess a sizable percentage of the U.S. military at any given point in recent history is made up of blacks and Mexican Americans.

America is an ever changing (sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse) place. It is a sum of what the people who are citizens at any given time make it and the experience of the people who came before them. That's it. America is not some magical place made up of brilliant ethical white people who have always been here and who are somehow being invaded by non-whites who are trying to take over and ruin the place.

America is a few centuries old and nearly everyone who lives here is an immigrant or a few generations down from an immigrant. That's the history, that's the present, that's the future. The country is built on immigration and while that type of system has its problems, it seems to have worked pretty well so far.
