Australian government raids showing of Ken Park

POLICE IN EROTIC FILM SWOOP

Australian police have swooped on a group of 500 people watching a banned sexually explicit movie. They had gathered in a town hall in southern Sydney to watch Ken Park, recently banned by the Office of Film and Literature Board.

The controversial film, featuring actress Maeve Quinlan, deals with teenage sex, incest and scenes of auto-erotic asphyxiation. Director Larry Clark describes the film as an "uplifting" look at modern youth.

This is an art movie made by an award winning director. Fucking censorship.

makes me want to crack some christian skulls.. fucking cunts.. the majority of aussies dig porn, it's just that all the whinging letter writers are well organised church groups, your average porn loving guy isn't going to write in to his local mp and tell him how much he loves jerking off.
that aside, it's not like it's a porno, in one scene the dad comes home drunk and tries to give his 17 year old son a blowjob.. pretty tense stuff, but 100% ridiculous to ban.. i can't believe how censorship has been hi-jacked by the bleating god botherers..

its not a right or left wing issue.
its a moral issue, and how churches etc impose their beliefs on the wider community.
I'm right of center, and most of the people I know are, and we all believe in a persons freedom to choose what they watch.
dare i suggest that the penalty for watching such a movie in a socialist/communist country would be a little more extreme than turning off the switch.
im sick of psuedo fucking intelectuals and their left wing shit.

Is this post a troll?

You are sadly misinformed if you think that right wingers aren't the main force behind censorship in the Western world.

In fact, you aren't just misinformed, maybe you have been misled by talk radio if you honestly believe it.

Don't worry, there is a cure for this. It's called reading! And I'm not talking about Anne Coulter.

i think im right in assuming this film contains underage sex scenes, so anyone that wants to see if should get a kick in the head, the maker of the film should be thrown in jail.

yes i agree that reading is a good start
why dont you read about communist russia, china and cuba.
now show me all the wonderful examples of freedom of speech.
by saying right of center im not suggesting im extreme right.
you are assuming this.
as i said...i believe in a persons freedom to view what they please. i believe in separation of church and state
i also believe in maximum practical personal responsibility, flat taxes and a capitalist system......
manipulate that however you want, but they're the simple facts
and as for being sadly misinformed, if youd like to have a private discussion id be glad to rectify your oppinion on this

I think theres a real blowjob scene in that movie (girl/guy)... but since when this is illegal? Just rate it X...

as for the insinuation that the caracters are 17... If it was done in the specific role of exciting some people, that would be another story.. but in that case, the movie is about the wild live of those teens... not adults...

and for the record:
I still think Clark is an old perv! Even if his movies are good, he needs to let the teens alone!

You said that censorship is not a right or left issue. Censorship is a platform of just about every major right wing group on earth. You can find a few extreme exceptions on the left, but it is a platform of the right in almost every society where there is a right.

If a left winger is pro-censorship, for example Joe Lieberman, he is considered a conservative (right leaning) left winger. If a right wingers is adamant about censorship, he is considered further to the right. Censorship = right.

Censorship is a right/left issue, it's something the right wing generally supports as a way to make the world a better place.

Wasn't that chick in 'Traffic' supposed to be 16 or something too ? Sure it wasn't super explicit, but noone gave a shit about her being nailed time after time.

I love how they made this a big news piece on the television, and than followed it up with a small bit about David Irving.

As you may or may not already know, David Irving is a Holocaust revisionist, and he was apparently showing a related film of his at an undergound show.

Don't get me wrong, he is no 'nazi' or 'racist', just a historian. Anyway, the Jewish community of Melbourne (plus a few other groups) were rallying to ban his film.

Mr Irving has already been barred from visiting Australia, and I am wondering if his filmed got banned too? It just shocked me, that our news cared to spend more time addressing the banning of an 'Erotic Film', than that of a political dissident.

...

Why are you posting on an adult industry board? Why not go back to Pat Robertson's church and burn a few books (Romeo and Juliet and Lolita to start with) on your way.

Child porn is illegal because a non-consenting (children to not have the legal right to consent to sex) child is harmed in the production. This is a fictional movie. Is that really hard for you to understand?

Why not ban any movie with murder, underage drinking, speeding, drug use, bombs, guns, or anything else too?

In a free society, people can make movies and books with illegal acts in them.

hey nonce, they're 19 year old actors depicting how 16 and 17 year olds act.. it's legal for 16 17 year olds to fuck, the film has artisitic merit which sets it apart from actual russian lolita sites which are primarily about porn, rather than a gritty depiction of teenage life.

... I donīt like it, as much as I donīt like non nude sites or photoshots of 18 year old posing like 15 yera old ...

... anyway, itīll give the movie an extra promotion and probably will make itīs producers more money as without the aussie censorship ... thatīs life !

I was not impressed by Taxi Driver, but The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (also with Jodie Foster) impressed me. From todays point of view a absolutely not acceptable movie.

Do you think the reality would become better without those movies?
No movies about teenages-sex = no underage hookers?
Get rid of bad pictures and one is rid of bad acts?

Reminds me of the time they ended up banning lolita? Or did they just try to ban it but it never happened?
I watched that movie, (even though I was 17 at the time hehe) thought it was pretty good, I hate it when the goverment tries to ban films or anything, fuck that, I'll choose myself what I want to watch - and anything they try & ban I'll find it & watch it on the net anyway

... so what, they are doing the fucking right thing, next thing you guys ask for is legalizing those russian lolita sites, because itīs ART ???
Key word: Theme.

These are not underage actors. And this is not a pornographic movie. There are plenty of movies that deal with children under the age of 18 having sex. There are plenty of movies that deal with rape, and incest.

Do you suggest we ban them, too? I can think of many brilliant movies that deal with child molestation, rape, and incest.

Go the censorship board for doing thier job.
Do you think they should ban movies like Once Were Warriors or What Becomes of the Broken Hearted? Afterall, both of these movies depict underage sex, incest, and rape. They're two of the most moving movies i've ever seen.
