internet 2 - DVD tranfer in 1 second (afraids me)!

is it a treat for old fashioned internet adult biz?
as you may already know a few days ago they broke a
speed record, in 1 second they transferred a "DVD"
from EU to US.

will it be open for public soon?

by the way, some related domain names
(like internet-2.tv and internet3.cc) are available,
does that worth to register them?

sorry for my ignorance but it made me a little bit shocked that
technology is changing so fast... and I'm afraid that internet 2
thing...

Internet2 is basically the same thing as the internet except its private. You can by time shares on it etc, since its private you can basically burst at almost full capacity on it hence the tremendous speeds. If it became public it would be the same garbage you have now, no difference.

Actually TCP/IP is designed for lossy networks and does not dynamically tune to the capacity of the media. Recent revisions yield improvements tenfold or more along the same old copper pair.

Uh no. Experts say that when Internet 2 will launch to the general public in 2010-2015, we will be able to download about 4 meg per second.

This is not 4.7 gig in 1 second... but it still hella good.

Is it more like a VPN running on CATV cables?

All I2 is is a private network. They had it at my university when I was there between various universities. Mostly it allowed us to transfer DivX and various ISOs between schools at lightning fast speeds.

HAHA.

In 2015 shit had better be faster than 4MB/sec. 10 years ago (1993) where were we? Fucking what, 9600baud modems? lol. Now nearly ever house in america can download at 3Mbit on a cable connection for around $50/mo.

Progress...

I think 4MB/sec would be a huge improvement from 3Mbit/sec but still I agree we should be much further - the technology is there.

surfers will download the entire paysite's content within 1 minute ?
that means only a few surfers will join a paysite and then they will share the content with all the rest through 'Kazaa 2" within seconds ?
hmm, maybe I should quit now since I still have the chance to become a politician...

Thats some awesomely gay speed. I get a good 1MB/sec with my cable modem on a good day, so in 10 years time I will only get an extra 3 megs per second? heh come on, by then there is no reason I shouldnt be using Gig-E at home and with due cause.

but that's a good question, how the biz will evolve.
Now everyone can say that f.e hosted galleries replace gallery submitters, or paysite member's value declines through the years...
but that's possibly nothing compared to the big changes caused by technology...

Look at this way, since alot of people have moved off of dialup and towards broad band pictures have grown in size, quality has increased, more movies to be found, etc, so as the speeds increase so will the quality of the porn. Not shoot quality that will still suck in most cases, but at least you will be able to see every pimple on the chicks ugly face.

So instead of downloading those small sized videos you can get the DVD quality shit straight online.
