No, not because of conversion ratios or whatever. Just did a poll on a few of my free sites, turns out about 25% of the surfers there are underage, with 10% being under 14.
Now, ofcourse watching porn does have an influence on the sexual development of children and young teens. They are easily influenced by just about anything, and there is no reason to believe porn is any different in that. If you look at what most porn consists of, that influence can only be bad.
Expecting parents to take the entire responsibility for making sure their children can't watch that kind of stuff might sound reasonable. However, since most parents know far less about computers and the internet than their children do, and simply can't be with them 24/7, it just doesn't work that way.

So that's it, I'm taking all hardcore off my free sites

I polled about 2000 surfers, and ofcourse quite a few probably lied (some probably also raised their ages out of fear they'd be kicked from the sites if they were under 18).
Still, when you think about it, it isn't really that odd an idea that many surfers are underage. I know I looked at porn myself before I was 18, that's for sure.
While it might not be very bad (might still be bad) for older teens (15+) to look at porn because they realize porn is just a fantasy, I think it's very likely that teens who are taking their first steps in sexual development just don't realize yet that porn is a fantasy, not real life.

Punk, your free sites are Goth sites? Is it possible that the majority of surfers looking for that kind of thing are under 18 to begin with just by the nature of it? Just wondering if that could have skewed the count a bit. The majority of Goth people I see around here seem to be teenagers, with a handful into their early 20's.

However, combined with the answers to the other questions and some simple truth-testing (yes, there is an online poll question which you can immediately check for truth), I think it makes it pretty clear that quite a few of the surfers are underage.

I think the percentage of people who lied is pretty high. However, any submitted poll in which they lied about their country was marked as a false result, and was not counted in the final stats. (interesting fact: that was over 50% of the polls submitted)

However, <b>this is not about the poll</b>.

This is about how it is unavoidable that with free porn without age verification some of the surfers on your site will be underage, of which some will even be very young. The poll just caught my attention and made me think about that.

There isn't a single thing which is available to parents and which would block me for a very long time, and most kids nowadays grew up with computers, so my guess is that they will get through just as easily.

I used to look at a lot of hardcore porn as a teenager and I don't think it really affected me badly, it was more of an escape from some bad shit that was happening in my life. In fact I think it broadened my horizons and gave me a fresh and balanced perspective on things like rape and bestiality. So I don't think it's bad to look at porn when you're growing up, how else can a teenage guy from a disfunctional home learn about relationships and dealing with women?

There are a lot of young kids who are almost goth. Very few who are what another goth would call goth, or even who call themselves goth. Most of the teenagers you see wearing black are nu-metalers. Goth has been around almost as long as punk, and most of us are sad old gits. ;)
