:mad I hate sites that maximizes browser window...

Why do people keep doing that

Ok pop-up's has a point..But what's the point with maximizing..

Don't tell me it's because of the design..None of the sites I've seen has a design which needs that..

Please stop doing that..It just makes surfers mad..

I hate it too... I run dual monitors... one for design and one for reading (lower res).

I hate it when a browser enlarges in my high res monitor... then you have to fucking resize it again...

Like pop-ups... if I hit a site like that... I will not go back.

I always leave my browser resized to the fullest. You can view the entire website easier that way.

Why do you resize it to a lower size?

That is also included but mostly it'll maximizes your current window to fit full screen without changing any of the features.

You have to resize it back because if you just close the window that maximized size becomes windows default..

If you are making any design work whlie that happens you will be very very annoyed..

I do design work as well, but I don't understand why you have to resize the browser window. Do you surf the Internet AND do design at the same time?

Let me see if I can answer this one....

When you're watching TV and someone moves in front of it and blocks your view, what do you do?

You tell them to move out of the way. Same thing with sites. A lot of sites are popped up... if the surfer doesn't have his/her browser maximized, they're not going to see the full monty.

So the site can do it for them. You know how fickle the surfer is: if your site loads in a screen that's minimzed completely or by 50% or whatever, boom, there goes a potential sale. It's hard to sell something if you're only advertising a corner of it, lol.

Using j a v a s cr ip t to retain focus on a fully maximized window is another thing. I agree, If you have a popup or for some reason your site blasts itself to the front and maximizes itself, well, that's another story. But if they're going to your site anyway, no harm in allowing them to view the whole thing.

And by the way, the majority of surfers don't have a dual-monitor setup..so I'm not sure why you're comparing your experience with their's. For the same reason, site owners design for surfers, not Webmasters....

Yes, I'm mostly working & surfing same time with usualy more than 3 programs open, also while working on coding I need to see few browser windows same time, then again some times I'm resizing browser window to a certain size to see if the desgin fits, and why should I resize or minimize window to reach my desktop icons or folders etc.?

Again, we're designing for surfers, not Webmasters.

Heh, that is certain you are a fast writer

I understant you point, but think of it in that way

What if your potential client browses to your sites at work or at home and doesn't want to be seen by boss or wifey...

He will instantly close the window with panic instead of seeing the ad's placed corners...

OR let's say he has nothing to hide but working with multiple programs? (I guess he doesn't needs to be a webmaster for that)

Here's my cure for automatic resizing for designers:

1.) Bookmark a random site.
2.) Right click on the link in your bookmarks, and go to Properties. Put this in place of the URL field (replace 'a' with the @): j@vascript:resizeTo(800,580) -- This resizes the browser for 800x600 users.
3.) Rename the bookmark link as desired.

Logic dictates that it is impossible to get rid of all maximizing scipts on internet even though they will made me mad.

So I'll try that as a creative alternative, thanks for it

But I'm still wishing that people use it less..

Screens are getting bigger, but people are usually still designing for a width of 800 pixels. I know I'd be pissed if I had a 1600x1200 screen and a site resized itself to fill the entire width. Check out all that blank space on each side...

Personally, I find it annoying. One reason I like to have browser windows smaller than full screen is that I can see when new ones open. If they're all full size, it may not always be apparent. Since I became a TGP webmaster I've given up on resizing the window back, because I'm pretty much guaranteed to have my browser changed again 2 minutes later as I go to check a trade.
