Here's my cure for automatic resizing for designers:
1.) Bookmark a random site.
2.) Right click on the link in your bookmarks, and go to Properties. Put this in place of the URL field (replace 'a' with the @):
j@vascript:resizeTo(800,580) -- This resizes the browser for 800x600 users.
3.) Rename the bookmark link as desired.
