I was wondering what sort of dual processor supercomputer you were using..

I can maybe load 3 gigs into it before it gets unstable.

Vegas rocks.

Hey, you veterans - is there any way to batch out clips with it? Like chop a bigger video into 1 minute segments and have it batch them all out, and then the big one? That's the biggest time waster when I was using it.

I'm curious about this as well...It can take ages to cut anything up by hand.

I've been using it for a while now, and I don't think there is a feature that will automatically render a certain number of clips at a pre set time length.

However.. try creativecow.net
very good turorials over there on how to use Vegas.

Tom, was this the original capture into the computer, or did you already have the 12gigs of movie *on* your machine as Divx/Mpeg/whatever and this was just converting it into .avi?

Does the new version crop better? I had problems with letterboxing with 3.0. As I recall it cropped fine horizontally but vertically it letterboxed.

I use pinnacle 7 for all the web clips to tell you the truth, its easy to use and I think it does a better job incoding than the cleaner ez product that comes with premier. Also its never crashed on me.

Pinnacle's Studio 7 (I guess version 8 is out..but haven't tried it) is quite good if your source is like a digital tape or something.

But for analog stuff..Vegas Video can't be beaten imho.

Did you go into "properties" and mark the box "expand video to fit whole frame"? That will get rid of the letterbox..or choose multimedia 1.0 in project "type" for full screen.

Easier, much MUCH better titling features, seemed a little faster. Just overall better. I am not a high end video editor by any means, but there was a large noticeable difference.

Isn't there a trial of VV 4?

I checked the box, but it still wouldn't do it. I had to switch back to Premiere to deal with it, which is a shame as Vegas Video is so much faster.
