too bad Kurt couldnt stop yanking riffs.

ever compare the songs 'come as you are' to the song 'the eighties' by Killing Joke?

'Twelve years after Nirvana borrowed heavily from Killing Joke's "Eighties" to create "Come as You Are," the reunited U.K. band is borrowing the defunct Seattle band's drummer to make its first studio album in seven years...'

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/pri....asp?nid=17876

nirvana is so overrated.

It is pathetic because nobody will care about the song in 20 years. Take Queen for example. Timeless music.

There is so many recent smash number one hits in that list that most people can't listen to anymore, cuz they've gotten sick of it.

What about One, The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters by Metallica?

They even won a Grammy for One.

The only stupid statement in this thread is the one by VH1 claimng "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the best song n 25 years.

I can think of dozens of better songs off the top of my head.

Pretty much anything by Queen
Pretty much anything by pre-1992 Michael Jackson
Pretty much anything by the Steve Miller Band

The list goes on and on. I could name individual songs, but it's easier to just name real artists with real talent.

I don't think anywhere in this thread did I state one way or the other what I thought.

I think there are better choices personally, but I don't think it's a terrible choice.

Didn't really think about my pick. Still thinking it over.

46) Queen and David Bowie - Under Pressure

You must be joking. 46???? Again, something like Queen and Freddy's voice, so influencial and ground breaking... and timeless.

28) Britney Spears - ?Baby One More Time

OMG.

13) TLC - Waterfalls

Nothing to add to that.

04) Eminem - Lose Yourself

Tops the list off.

What a pile of shit.

i know more people who can sing the lyrics to "baby got back" than "SLTS". that would make it more popular right? hence a better song?

The best song ever written was probably written over 50 years ago. (What a beautiful world IMHO) Nirvana, as much as I really didn't care much for them, absolutely made a huge change in how music was approached. Had Kurt not died? I don't think we would even be talking about them though.
