too bad Kurt couldnt stop yanking riffs.

ever compare the songs 'come as you are' to the song 'the eighties' by Killing Joke?

'Twelve years after Nirvana borrowed heavily from Killing Joke's "Eighties" to create "Come as You Are," the reunited U.K. band is borrowing the defunct Seattle band's drummer to make its first studio album in seven years...'

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/pri....asp?nid=17876

nirvana is so overrated.

It is pathetic because nobody will care about the song in 20 years. Take Queen for example. Timeless music.

There is so many recent smash number one hits in that list that most people can't listen to anymore, cuz they've gotten sick of it.

Sarah_Jayne 06-10-2003 04:54 PM

25 years? 15 certainly in my top 10.

They even won a Grammy for One. :1orglaugh

The only stupid statement in this thread is the one by VH1 claimng "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the best song n 25 years.

I can think of dozens of better songs off the top of my head.

Pretty much anything by Queen
Pretty much anything by pre-1992 Michael Jackson
Pretty much anything by the Steve Miller Band

The list goes on and on. I could name individual songs, but it's easier to just name real artists with real talent.

The White Album was probably further in the past than 25 years. :2 cents:

None of that shit said above comes close to the movement Teen Spirit caused..

Living For Today 06-10-2003 05:00 PM

sorry but smells like teen spirit was one of the most recognised and best songs ever. everyone will have different opinions but that song really was one of the best ever.

I don't think anywhere in this thread did I state one way or the other what I thought.

I think there are better choices personally, but I don't think it's a terrible choice.

Didn't really think about my pick. Still thinking it over.

eminem and nirvana shouldnt be in the top 10...

where's
"wind of change/scorpions"
"twsited sister/we aint gonna take it'
"Chris Isaac/ wicked games"
"we are the world/lionel ritchie, stevie wonder"
no stevie wonder or lionel ritchie song btw...

just to name a few...

any other songs should be in the top 10 ?

X37375787 06-10-2003 05:02 PM

46) Queen and David Bowie - Under Pressure

You must be joking. 46???? Again, something like Queen and Freddy's voice, so influencial and ground breaking... and timeless.

28) Britney Spears - ?Baby One More Time

OMG.

13) TLC - Waterfalls

Nothing to add to that.

04) Eminem - Lose Yourself

Tops the list off.

What a pile of shit.

i know more people who can sing the lyrics to "baby got back" than "SLTS". that would make it more popular right? hence a better song?

Even my girlfriend, who likes TLC, said she heard them live and they sucked ass. Sorry, but the "best songs" shouldn't have to be processed so hard that you're not even hearing the real performers.

I have a funnier version I wrote called "Don't Go Chasing Booty Calls".

Really, anyone who says "Karma Chameleon" didn't cause a movement is nuts.

Edit: Please don't start the "They did more than just that song!" crap. I know.

The best song ever written was probably written over 50 years ago. (What a beautiful world IMHO) Nirvana, as much as I really didn't care much for them, absolutely made a huge change in how music was approached. Had Kurt not died? I don't think we would even be talking about them though.

regardless, it's timeless. i could care less about if it doesn't meet their standards... let's just file it under "O" for "of all time", peckerwood :winkwink:

SCJason 06-10-2003 05:09 PM

Some of the artist are definately valid.........But some of the songs they chose I mean come on. Beasties "Fight for your right " U2 "One"............Just a few examples... alot of these groups put out much better songs than the ones listed..........
