Question regarding chargebacks!

I´ve been thinking about this topic a bit lately and wanted to ask a few questions.

When someone does a chargeback, or demands a refund, what do the processor do? Do they make a not of that special card, or peson, or do they just go along with it not to upset almighty Visa?

Wouldn´t it be an idea to make a list, shared by processors of people that do this, and then if someone does it more than once, just ban him on all processors!

I´m quite sure this would help a bit in the battle against this, and maybe make the CC companies relise that it´s maybe not all out fault!

I wish they would make note of each and every fucker who dose this, it would help a lot. With your own merchant account you are notified of each and every dispute so you have a chance to contest a chargeback, showing server stats as proof of access helps. But with online processors they just dont care enough, at 15% i would think they are all making enough to put some effort into this but they dont.

I understand that they comply if someone asks for a refund, they don´t want him to go to his bank and make a chargeback, and by that push them closer to that dreaded 1%

But I´ve seen in newsgroups and on chatboards people giving detailed info about how to do this, bragging about doing this all the time etc.

So if this negative database actually exists, what is it being used for? I say if a person makes a chargeback, or demands a refund more than once, with out giving very good reasons for it, he should be put on a black list. In short, just a big scrubb list, with names+adresses of cheaters, I´m not saying scrub out all John Smiths if one cheats, but if it´s John Smith, Cheaters Streat 7, he should be scrubbed out!

I don't know the specifics on how each processor does it, but we put anyone who does a chargeback into a negative database and they can never sign up through our merchant account again. Each one can handle it specifically how they choose. But they all have a running negative database which CC's are compared against.

While I obviously cannot speak for the other processors, CCBill does store the details of charged back transactions and uses that information to assist them in scrubbing transactions.

I could talk about chargebacks all day long...if you want my thoughts feel free to hit me up on icq or email, or do a search
