LOL!!!

good catch.

Actually i use revsharehosting for this sponsor. It is free hosting but you give up a percentage of the signup.

This particular sponser pays $0.80 per signup to me, and $0.20 to the host.

No you shouldnt expect that.

He's right. Most people submitting galleries struggle to make even close to that.

I wasn't suggesting you change THAT one after it's posted. My advice was for NEXT time.

DarkJedi 06-07-2003 12:59 PM

Ok, i take my words back. you seem to be doing pretty good with FTC. Damn CE Mags convert at 1:76 for me :BangBang:

Post your FTC wm ref link i'll signup under you.

This is the link for batchthumbs I don't think anyone posted it..

www.harmware.com

I have been reading this thread..and I guess I might as well put in my :2 cents:

Free email sign-ups are good for catching your super cheap surfers..If you place the links just right on your galleries or web pages they can be a good way to cover bandwith/hosting'/advertising cost.. If you place your advertisements just right and Let your surfers know in order for them to get the "Good Shit" they are gonna have to pull out the credit card...will "Push" the cheap skates to your "Free E-mail Sponsors".

Getting pay-site sign-ups/upsells "should" be your ultimate goal. If your galleries or sites don't at least cover your monthly expenses it's time to re-group.

I'm back. I was trying to make a new gallery. Keeping simplicity in mind, and based on the gallery that I have already, does this one seem to be a little better or am I far worse off than I started?

http://www.phonetease.com/practicegallery.html

Of course, I'd replace the content and the banner, but what about the style. Is this what you mean by break the surfers attention from the pics? I would do a lot more to it, based on the advice that I got here, but am I headed in the right direction?

Thanks Bobv for the link and others who posted.

Its not converting because it is SUMMER. Sorry.:(

eroswebmaster 06-07-2003 03:01 PM

Okay on your 2nd attempt.

I applaud your attempting to do something different than what everyone else is doing in respect to your layout etc.

However most tgps don't like galleries that scroll horizontally.

Also a good number of thumbs to start with is about 15.

So I try to build all my templates using 13-18 pics depending upon the layout of the gallery.

Just look at the templates for the gallery in my sig for an example.

The first template is the one for TGP's to use who want a "clean" gallery. The 2nd and 3rd one are more aggressive versions of the same template.

Your template doesn't have to be as "graphical" as this...and what's amazing is our "clean" version is actually doing better than the aggressive versions.

Either way, the template is doing 1-2% ctrs clean with more actual sales, and 4-6% ctrs for the aggressive version.

When I was pushing TEEN, summers would fucking suck. Now that I push other niches, its Summer Slowdown proof.

Thanks Eros,

Hey, I'm not sure what to do about the sidescrolling, on my computer it doesn't scroll. I'm guessing, I have to reduce the width of the pictures. Not sure, though. Critiques are always welcome. :) Looking at your galleries shows me how changing certain aspects of a template, gives it an even cooler look.
I think I'll try making a gallery on Batch Thumbs.

hey, Hi Quality, what do you mean by it's summer? Is the business slower in the summer? Do tell.

jimmy3way 06-07-2003 03:23 PM

Wait, a minute, wait a minute, you actually PAID for that gallery?

Paid money? American money?

Damn I didn't think people were that mean to newbies.

number one lesson while designing anything:

design for 800x600 resolution.

you're probably running at 1024x768 like i am right now, so you don't see the side scrolling.

but 40-60% of your surfers will be at 800x600 and the right most 200+ pixels will be cut off.

also, don't use graphics for your text. all the text you have up there can be easily done with style sheets or regular html tags and you won't have to worry about jaggies (the jagged edges on your text)

Plus, text helps with search engine spiders :2 cents:

I hope this helps you with an idea of what works for us...

Who the fuck is going to pay the bandwidth bill for those?
The First gallery must be at least 400k+ (w/o the movies) - many people will fit all images on a gallery and the page itself into that bandwidth!!! Each of your 'thumbnails' (like movie1.jpg) is around 50k alone, and then the sliced header is another 51k - ghee! That'll make you poor and the host rich...:glugglug

Specially if you're a newbie or advertise a sponsor with a $25 sign-up and in some cases heavy shaving... If you're advertising your own paysite and have member retention of 4-6 months it's a different story!

You know what? That makes a ton of sense! Why look at pics of half nude teen honeys, when all the guys have to do is go to the lake, beach, river, water park, city pool, etc.?

I'm guessing the amateur niche would experience slowdown, as well.

So, pimplink, if it can be told, what niche's do you push for summer? I think I have an idea, but I'd like to hear your ideas!
