they took over 80 of his other bats and not a one was corked. Not to mention that the cork doesn't really help. It must be a conspiracy.:stoned

This takes nothing from Sammy he still is a GREAT Baseball player that has done a lot for the sport as it has done for him and he is grateful for it.

then why do players risk their reputations if it doesn't help? there have been guys out there who had career seasons(both batting avg and home runs) and said they used a corked bat. i haven't used a corked bat myself, but there's obviously a reason why they are used.

Well according to the local sports page (OC Register) a corked bat does NOT make the ball go further. However it does make them have faster bat speed, 1-3mph faster and they can reach the ball 6 inches ahead of a non corked bat.

But since none of his other bats were corked I say you tell him every game we inspect all his bats and if one is found corked he gets early retirement.
