Also I know you have a child in Kelowna, but have you considered moving to a different part of BC or Canada? You might like the culture in northern BC or Alberta better. I have a friend who started over in Saskatchewan and likes it.

If I had to pick a spot in Canada it'd be Canmore, AB. One of the most beautiful places on earth. A bit spendy though.

I have multiple friends and family that got priced out of Vancouver and moved to Calgary and love it.

Obviously it depends how you can handle cold, but if you are tired of politics and culture, go north, east, or northeast, and go small town. I have spent a lot of time in Terrace BC and don't mind it. Of course each place has it's own issues and poverty/drug use is a universal thing in Canada, but a lot of the stuff that bothers you is a west coast / lower mainland thing (and Kelownafornia may as well be the lower mainland now that everyone has moved there)
