Does it still showcase cutting edge sex and porn tech, or is it just another awards ceremony and industry networking thing?
From my impression at the time (I have never attended one), it was sort of an adult entertainment version of the CES, held a week or two after it. For example, the "world's first sex robot" was revealed there in 2010, to much snickering. https://futureofsex.net/robots/roxxx...-of-sex-robot/ The last few days, I can't remember reading about any new sex tech being shown off. Maybe it's because the CES itself is a little more liberal about sex tech? https://ca.news.yahoo.com/lovense-la...170000707.html |

Dugmor was showing at Internext some robots there that seemed 70% lifelike so there is improvement made and much much more to be made in the future. Compared to other modes that foreigners create - America seems to be way behind in realism.
As far as the awards go - over the years people are always happy to get one - brag about it - show it off on their website - but in the end and behind closed doors - it really didn't help greatly in increasing sales. Which is what it's all about and as soon as the year is out your award becomes obsolete as the next companies moves in. Kindly of like Oscars - many awards are giving - some we don't know who the hell they are and why they are on the stage but there they are - and other awards rarely want us to pick them to work with - it truly comes down to the people you work with and cost. So - ya - networking - bragging etc. but not much in substance because at the end of the day deals are made based on referrals and who you know and trust not awards. Not to mention the past few years we've seen awards given that are paid for in one way or another (which we all knew)

The award shows probably used to be solid when things like a double blowjob or shaved pussy was a big deal in society, now everyone has seen it all so the awards are going to be niche or fickle.
"Best cumshot in a scene where the actor is wearing denim jeans". cool stuff, where does one cash out that award? |

First time I went to AVN it was in a room at the Sands during CES. Way more consumer foot traffic, but less the central thing.
