I actually like roaches. Maybe it's how advanced as a species they are.

Here is a fact about German roaches:

Females produce one egg capsule every 3-4 weeks. Each capsule contains 25-45 eggs. The female will carry the egg capsule with her until it is ready to hatch. The young(nymphs) will be able to breed in as little as 36 days.

1 roach can have 30 babies a month, assuming half are female, that's 15 more reproducing roaches a month.

1 roach = 15 reproducing roaches per month.
those 15 will have 30 each, again assume only half can reproduce.
So those 15 will have 15 each, and they will have 15 each...
all the while the first roach is still making 15 more reproducing every month...

I get so confused.

Can someone do the math for me?
How many roaches and offspring can 1 single female roach produce in a year?

Fuck, I should make this a contest.

This old place I lived in have some roaches. I opened the microwave and one of the little bastards was in there. So I shut the door and put it on high for 5 minutes. Came back ...opened the door and the little bastard walked out... Fuck me.

man this is one of the most interesting threads :D did you know the roach is the fastest thing on six legs? also did you know its one of the oldest things on earth they say when we die the ROACH will still be here living on earth!

Also who has seen MIMIC imagine if that shit were to happen we would be obselete!

um.. yeah. I worked on Mimic.

And yes they are indeed the fastest thing on six legs. HOWEVER, when they run, at full speed, their upper bodies lift off the ground slightly, and they literally run with only their 2 back legs.

And, you can only see them running like this with a high speed camera. They barely lift up enough, just so their front legs don't touch.

It was shot all over. Some in Toronto, some on set, and some around here in Los Angeles.

I built some roaches, but worked mostly on the albino roach at the end that gets crushed by the train. It was only 18" tall. I build a miniature rod puppet of the 6' tall puppet.

The set that I worked on was at the DWP plant in sunland. Like most on set work, you don't really appreciate it till years later. Either you like it or you hate it. Looking back, I had a good time. But during filming, no one was very happy.
