? Possession of 15 grams or less of marijuana: a fine of $150 for an adult, $100 for a young person.
? Possession of one gram or less of cannabis resin: a fine of $300 for an adult and $200 for young people.

? Possession of 15 grams or less of marijuana or one gram or less of cannabis resin where aggravating factors exist: a fine of $400 for an adult and $250 for a youth. Aggravating factors include driving a car or being on school property.

? Possession of between 15 grams and 30 grams of marijuana: A police officer would decide if the person should receive a ticket or issue a summons for a summary conviction. The ticket fine would be $300 for an adult and $200 for a youth. The summary conviction penalty would be up to six months imprisonment and/or up to a $1,000 fine.

You can now get up to 14 years in prison for growing more than 50 pot plants in Canada. It used to be only 7.

Here in Vancouver the statistics say there is one Grow Opereration on every city block. Estimation a total of 27,000 Grow Ops in the city of Vancouver.

This new decriminalization law must be more important in the rest of Canada, because in British Columbia there hasnt been a Jail Sentence related to Marijuana since 1977. I know a few people who had 2,000 plant Grow Ops busted and were only fined, no jail time.

Yup, I've known people too and none were ever jailed...fined up the wahoo and not allowed to own firearms/weapons while on probation....but never jailed....

You don't think throwing someone in prison for 14 years for growing some plants is a bit too extreme, especially considering they are decriminalizing the act of smoking it?

Where is the logic in what they are doing? Let's make everyone more relaxed about smoking the stuff, but let's fuck them up the ass with a bloody pipe if they dare to grow it.

I don't even care about decriminalizing pot, I hardly ever touch the stuff. But I don't like the insane penalties our government likes to dish out for certain crimes for no reason at all.

i know a guy that got a $1000 fine for having 30 plants on a hydro set up in his house.. the cops came around and instead of talking to them at the door he was so paranoid he was sure they were there for him so he let them in and they obviously found them.. they were there to issue a summons to a previous tenant... damn.. .. still a $1000 fine for a production facility worth 66k every 12 weeks..

80% of america is pro med pot/decrim. Th adminstration is changing its tune toward education/rehab for abusers of hard drugs but they still don't get MJ.

The advertising programs are great -the ad men that get the cash are the ones on the advisory boards recomending increased funding. The rehab programs are there to. All long time friends of the Bush family. Heavy campain contribitors. Faith based intiatives

What is really laughable about that US ambassador's comments is that he seems to forget that 12 US states had decriminalized long before we ever did. Did anyone hear the Canadian gov't making such idiotic statements back then? I didn't.

Yes, it has been legalized in some states for medical use only... however, on the federal level it is still a crime and the feds are busting people who have been allowed by the state to produce for medical patients.

There is/was an article on NORMAL where a 57 year old woman was knocked down to her knees outside her home in California when the DEA busted in.
