I am pretty sad that when I talk to Harry Potter fans it usually turns out no one read the books, or did so just with the first 1-3..
I've read them all and my opinion is that if you'v read the books, the movies won't make you happy/interested at all. They might be good/valuable if you just watch them, but in case you've read all the books, they are mediocre and irritating. That said, my remarks about the books in a jutshell: the first few are just funny fairytales for kids with an interesting concept. The "middle ones" are getting hard, they cause anxiety - good characters die and suffer, while the wortst thing that happen to the evil/bad ones is that they get into jail from where they escape sooner or later. The last book, the 7th one is a masterpiece, Rowling developed the characters, the story and her writing skills to a pretty high level. After the first six books I was still not able to decide if this is a good series or not. The last book made me believe that the meaning of the first six books was to prepare the success of the last one. Watching the double movie of the last book comparing it to actually reading the book was like if you compare jerking off to SD retro porn while wearing condom to having the top sexual act of your like with the love of your life bareback
