your question doesn't make sense

if you're copying DVD's, a DVD writer will do that

obvious really

Your average movie is 4.7gb x2 as they're double sided. You'll find maybe 100 older titles that'll fit on 1 DVD without doing some major cutbacks and quality reduction.

HPs are a piece of shit from what I've heard. Sony is best, Pioneer is second best.

okay

can you actually get writers that write to both sides?

I don't need that, but sounds interesting if possible ...

no, he means double-layer, the movies you buy in shops are DVD9 which means they use dual-layers so they can fit the movie on 1 disc. Retail dvd writers can't write DVD9 the last time I checked so in my opinion there is no point in getting one yet.

Where do you get that from? When I first started looking into them close to a year ago I cam across plenty in the $600-$3,000 range that claimed to write nine gig disks. The nine gig disks aren't cheap, but they are available.

I suppose those could literally be double-sided, but I don't think so.

I need one for content archiving and as an easy way to get content to my designers. 2 or 3 dvds is a lot easier than burning 25 cds.
