Business Been running an affiliate site for 10+ years? Inside now!

Was on a burn cruise enjoying the fall leaves on the trees this morning when for some reason I got thinking about domain names and length and my homie ktj4l's site fuckingmotherfucker.com and how it's probably still up to this day (just checked, looks to redirect now bummer) and how if he's still running it the same way he was in 2005.

Got me thinking those of you who have been running the same affiliate websites for the past decade or more... What's it been like, how has your life been? Do you feel the mundane day to day grind of adding pics and videos, giving titles to them and putting up marketing copy on them for affiliate links? Or has it been good, or maybe automated or you finally broke the income threshold that made it worthwhile to pay some grunt to handle that and you just live your life how you want?

I mean I can say the same lol, except not a plumber. A chef probably. Had plans to go to culinary school. But that was in 2003, and well lots happened since then.

You're right, it was Panda. I didn't figure it out, all my traffic went to zero, I thought my servers were down Instead I used all my savings to start buying banners on tube sites and became one of AFF's top affiliates within a year.

Definitely don't miss posting free porn samples every day and hoping to compete with the tubes for search traffic, so that a fraction of people click through and signup to a paysite, or praying that I can pay my bills and feed my family based on hoping to get scraps from Google after "getting links and posting quality content".

Got any mainstream sites? Google takes years of our information compilation efforts and uses that data to give traffic to idiots with non optimized sites because with our info they KNOW what someone is looking for.

I've never focused on Google, because fuck them, and thank God for that.

Stop asking me about AI, the answer is yes.

Did you use your own banners or use the creatives from AFF?

Also, I hear you about getting links and quality content. Whenever I search for anything health related on Google, from physio to nutrition to medical research, I get Healthline and WebMd as my top searches and they both suck. They are "authority" sites because they have links and lots of content but their content is generic and vague. Google is mainly good for searching up something specific like "Watch repair near me" etc...

Own creatives and landers with a whitelabel, linking to reg page. Keep in mind this was 10+ years ago.

Thanks. I was thinking about media buying too at that time (among other options like creating my own Amazon product) but I was getting just enough "G" traffic to not starve and so I stayed in the affiliate game.

I think it would have been better to starve and feel the desperation which would have forced me to try other avenues.
