No, you'll just end up wasting more of your time in pissing contests all month long when they start defending themselves. Inevitably a few will seek vegeance for the disclosure which will create additional hassles and waste of your time.
If someone doesn't perform to your expections its very simple, never use them again and if someone comes to you for a recommendation for them tell them straight up they didn't perform. The only way you succeed long term in any industry is your rep. Good reps are best propogated by good word of mouth. Those that fuck others eventually disappear because no one will be recommending them to anyone else. A slow death is always the best revenge. :) |

There. I've exposed myself. :glugglug |
If someone fails to do something properly and on time, you don't owe them any courtesy whatsoever. It isn't your job to contact them to give them chance to make amends: that's their job. If they neither do the work to spec nor (quickly) offer compensation without being prompted, you would be doing everyone here a favor by letting us know who to avoid. You would also be doing a favor to the people who do have decent standards.
That said, in industries where doing a late or half-assed job first time out of the box is the norm, the customer is supposed to know what to expect. It's crazy, but fellow customers, although screwed themselves, won't be too sympathetic if all you got was the "normal" runaround. When you are dealing with people in those industries, don't just hope for the best. Make it clear from the off you don't want the usual crap and stay on top of the job: don't wait for the deadline to pass. Keeping in touch also gives you a chance to judge whether they tried their best against real problems (that's forgivable) or just jerked you around. Never ever give someone who jerked you around a second chance, because you already proved that you will stand for it, so you can expect more of the same. The only reason low standards are so common is that people put up with them and keep quiet about businesses which work that way. This is a small community: if we didn't protect all the villains and losers, there wouldn't be near as many of them. |

If they came through then I would let it go. If they did not and it does not look like they will then I would make others aware of it.
To date, I know I have had 3 projects that did not work out as planned. And a 4th that has taken longer than expected but the client was made aware of this possibility before hand. The first one was Darren and I asked him what would make him happy. He asked for additional exclusive sets and he got it. The 2nd person is not even worthy of me mentioning his name but anybody who closely followed that bullshit knows that it was a case of the client not sticking to the original verbal agreements, telling me to keep monies for kill fees and then bitching about it later and threatening to sue me...Which he never did because he had no case. The 3rd one of them was after a model had agreed to do a shoot and I even paid her in advance because she had been fairly reliable in the past. The model then had some personal issues that I posted about in this thread which kept her from doing the shoot. I ended up shooting another model instead but the client was still not 100% satisfied so I gave some extra stuff and promised that I would shoot this model for him free of charge if she ever showed up again. Since then she has shot repeatedly for Unseenworld but not for any of the 3 photographers that she owes advanced money to. And the 4th us Paul-C. Great guy who has been VERY patient with me. I actually finished shooting the project last week and am encoding the video this very minute. I have been repeatedly attacked on GFY and have had a certain prior client attempt to drag my name through the mud on MANY occasions but guess what? I still shoot content, I still do everything within my power to make sure my clients are happy, people from GFY still contact me to do work for them, and I am still busy enough that I need to refer clients to others from time to time in order for them to get the best service possible. My point here is that sometimes, shit really does happen. It is up to you to decide if it is bullshit or not. On one hand, posting about it may cost the person some business but on the other hand, people may also take his side once he replies and that may cost you some embarrassment. That's my long winded :2 cents: Enjoy it. :glugglug |

Keep in mind, too...sometimes things get slowed down because of an unreliable model. I have had to reschedule THREE times this week to work around a flakey model (who will NOT be used again...I found a cute little hottie who is a virgin to this biz to shoot with next time...IF there is a next time)

Just expose'em, if they cannot stick to their word, clients will know it and on the other side they'll have the chance to explain what happened. Love those lame excuses! :Graucho And I have lotsa popcorn ready for upcoming drama

no no , let `em cheat ya again , blah what a question :arcadefre

Post it and you look like a bad guy.
Keep it quiet and the competition suffers the same fate. You call it. |
line em up on a wall and shoot 'em
|
Good points all round - but ultimately it comes down to what happens after the revenge. The on going flames are just going to waste your time.
Far better to never use them again and let it be known among your frieds privately that these guys are just not professional enough to do business with. |

Paul-C's soccer team sucks ass, I wouldn't do any business with him because of this. If you can't do well in Scotland why the hell are you dreaming the championsleague.....
|
Regarding the topic the problem arise very often from the ones reffering people they do not know or for a small commision they get.
|
Sometimes crap happens and if someone is going to miss a deadline, I'd be more forgiving if they had kept me informed rather than have me going and asking why they didn't make the deadline. Communication is key
