US aiming for world domination in internet porn, too?

This might sound like a weird question to start with but I'm asking myself this question on a regular basis:
are US companies aiming to dominate the market for internet porn?

· for years I'd been always surprised how little consideration is given to overseas webmasters AND visitors to paysites with little or imperfect knowledge of English (I'm one of them)
· how transactions in US Dollars dominate this business
· even European sponsors keep the US$ as their currency
· how few paysites actually cater for countries like Germany (decent pay-for-porn market!), where the use of credit cards is not that common, and systems like EC checks and cards are in place instead (basically these people can't sign up with most sites, and dialers have such a bad reputation in .de that not many will be stupid enough to see them as an alternative)
- the list can go on!

That I'm finally posting this has been triggered by an email I just received from tripplexcash. They inform their webmasters that they changed their advertising program (it doesn't say clearly on their pages, but it looks like they're now using their own processing) - they used to be with CCBill!
I as a foreign webmaster and not that many sales with tripplexcash will have to drop them as sponsor, because
· seperate payments of small amounts is not economical with inflated bank charges on foreign currency transactions!
With the processing though CCBill it didn't matter that much, because tripplexcash is just a slice of the big cake!

I'm sure a good number of foreign webmasters will come to the same conclusion! I don't know anything about their particular figures, but I know from several programs that o/s webmasters make over 30% of their volume in sales - and many of these sales to fellow country people (= foreign country sign-ups)
= meaning you can lose a good slice of you income by not taking the interests of citizens from other countries into account!

Very good points and very true.

The US has always dominated the entertainment industry. Probably because its such a hodge podge of people here representing every culture on the planet, so you get a tremendous amount of creative and artistic talent with an enormous amount of technological innovations to deliver and distribute it globally.

Somehow I smell that situation is not going to be sustained... in many areas. Much is changing and it is not.. least overall, to the benefit of the US...

I actually think that the problem are some of the European webmasters. They just take the easy route and work with existing solutions that existed in the US. So only in recent years European billing companies started but they mostly still use US dollars as their currency. Many european webmasters are however very big in the industry. I think that 'The Hun' is a good example and others are also very active.

I have noticed a change in the behaviour of US webmasters lately. Many US webmasters are having concerns about the new legislation that is making the work harder in the US. Now the webmasters react differently.
Some start to block foreign countries and simply forward them to sponsors. Greenguy is a good example here. I think it is not the smartest move if you plan to stay in the long run because the US actually has not much potential to grow internet wise. Most people simply have it by now. Other in Europe and espessially Asia. That's were the market groth is.
Other US webmasters react in the way of planning to move their business to foreign shores to be protected from the harder US legislation that probably will get even harder in the future.

I think we will see a shift in were Adult will be operated over the next years

You are a moron !

Oh and with G.W. Bush and his declining $ things will change I think. Now it's much more interesting to charge and get paid in euro's for all European webmasters after a 35% decline of the $.

Both make good points, the major market for porn is still the States. Whether the supply will continue to come from the States as it does now will depend on the Goverment and what they can push through.

But the biggest market for porn has always been the States. I read once Americans spend more on porn per capita than other Western Countries. The biggest porn Magazines and Video companies are mostly in the States.

We have some very good clients in Germany, France, UK, Holland & Denmark. Most of them are use other billing methods, as well as CC.

How long will it stay this way is the question.

was just trying to signup for webmastersmakemoney.com. The country field is a drop down menu, but the only option is United States..

It's probably just an oversight with their new design, but a typical oversight to forget the rest of the world

the problem with processing European cards and checks is the Europan banks themselves. Hardly any bank will give you a internet merchant account, even less if they know you'll process adult.

the only 3rd party Euro CC company charge2000.com doesnt seem very solin but can make some money for website owners.

A warm welcome? They surrendered because one of their main cities had been bombed to pieces, not because they liked the germans.

That might be typical
...or what about the form where you're supposed to select a state from the drop-down list and are rejected if you don't, but with no option to select "other" or "outside US" - I ended up a few times living in Alabama because I had no choice
