design question: screen brightness / contrast - GoFuckYourself.com

Im reviewing some designs and they they look too bright
on one monitor and too dark on another: figures since
my monitor settings are fucked up.

But is there some kind of tool that displays for example
all sort of color schemes which allows me to fine-tune
the B/C of my screens to 'default' ?

Hope it makes sense.

Excellent topic....

I have a 1 y/o 17'' monitor in front of me... On 100, the brightness is at 60...
The site I've just designed look perfect on it.

I then test it on another monitor, brand new 17'' flat screen, brightness set at 50/100 and its way too bright!!

Well, I decided to go halfway, increased my first monitor's brightness to 80...

edit: BTw, I think that the default setting for each monitor is 50... Unfortunately, it is not the same 50!

just like there is enough information and care about
what browsers people use to make a design overall
compatible there has to be a simple trick or tool
to define the default B/C.

I did the same as you Juice but hey.. maybe my monitors
are WAY to bright or way to dark considering the average
and i dont know what the average is..

Somebody must have figured this out... thank god
im not a designer.. details like this will make me paranoid.

i think my video card has a setting where it shows a picture and i just drag the thing across untill i think it looks best. or the adobe gamma loader does it for me, i dunno. i know flat screens tend to make everything look a lot lighter. you can fix this by making sure when there is a solid black object that it looks truly BLACK and not somewhat illuminescent.
