for long tail keywords even from google? I feel like i'm pumping out content for nothing... this feeling of starting over a new website from NOTHING is tough.. and mentally discouraging.

What do u think? Writing a few headlines on a website and google brings u millions of people so you can be rich fast?

+ use one of this google keyword planner sites and see if your site's main keyword has more than 1m monthly search, if not then i don't think you can get any traffic soon.

I can rank for any 3 keyword phrases (in phone sex) but I struggle beyond that.

It's what we all did back in the day. Our exit button or text would link to google.com

I assume we thought it would make google to favor us. I just did what everyone else was doing.

Domain age isn't a factor anymore, or to be precise, it is almost irrelevant. And it is like this for years now. I know, I've tested it and compared it with totally fresh domains. Better spend some time learning about SEO than wasting it on making new sites without knowledge.

Social signals are really important these days. It's was really easy to rank with google + but they took it out.

The game today is all about the link budget being high enough and having a lot of time (for waiting). If you are well organized, it shouldn't be an issue to get a website ranked.

There are many reasons why this can happen unfortunately I don't know the site nor what you've done inside analytics etc. to help. Yes you should be able to start seeing traffic at least by now so really need to dig in and find out why.
